Seasonal Road Closure Notice: HWY 120 (Tioga Pass) generally closes for the winter from late October through late June. Daily closures can also occur during periods of inclement weather in spring and fall. The Eastern entrance to Yosemite National Park is located 45 minutes from Mammoth Lakes. Yosemite's Eastern Gate or Tuolumne Meadows is not accessible when Tioga Pass is closed. All other Yosemite National Park entrances are open year round. Hotel is going through a much needed remodel. We stayed on the third floor and were immediately hit with the smell of Urine once existing to our room. Our room was dated with furniture from the 80’s.The vanity area in room was at the entry door and situated on wall to wall carpet. The air conditioning unit sounded like a diesel engine and sleeping was difficult at best. Our coffee maker had no filter compartment to brew the coffee, and the water reservoir was filled with wurm like residue.

stayed at Shilo Inns on August 16. The hotel is quite old, and parking is somewhat limited. However, the rooms are spacious and very clean. Overall, it was a decent experience. The food options were limited, and there were no fruits available

This hotel is terrible.

This is a run down hotel. They are redoing the exterior, but the interior is what needs help. The tile in the bathroom in front of the toilet was broken all up. The bathroom ceiling was so water damaged it was falling down. The elevator control panel was open and swinging open. Every part of this hotel is falling apart. Spend the extra $40 to stay some other place.

Our first room had stained and dirty carpet, turn upholstery on the sofa, torn curtains patched with black tape, no phone, and a view of the dirty alley next door. When we complained to the manager about our room he did offer to change our room but said something to the effect that this is what happens when you book with Expedia. Our second room was an improvement, same old carpet but overall cleaner. Bathroom was remodeled with a nice walking shower, but why not remodel the whole room.

3 night stay at the Mammoth Shilo Inn

We stay at the Shilo at least once every winter to go cross-country skiing. This time we came in the middle of summer to hike in the near by mountain trails. The service was excellent as usual. We were very disappointed that the pool was closed for refurbishing and we were not alerted ahead of time. The rooms here are spacious and comfortable, but they are in need of maintenance. For example, in our room, the shower grout needs deep cleaning, the carper has stein spots and the window curtains are ripped. Looks like they are slowly making improvements around the hotel, so hopefully they would get to all the rooms soon. The quality of the breakfast items was not as good as before, but we made do and the coffee was good. We have been staying here for over 20 years, but now it has gotten very expensive. We did get a fairly good deal through Hotels.com, but be aware that the deals here are for "pet friendly" 2nd floors room. I didn't catch that when I made the reservation, but the front desk was very generous to upgrade us to another room when we explained that my travel companion has allergies and we are frequent guests.

This place sucks!

This place sucks! If you’re going to rent rooms during a remodel you should reflect that in the price! No way this was worth the $249 I paid to stay here! I’ve never stayed anywhere that was so old, damaged, and smelly! That couch…I’ve seen furniture in better condition on the side of the road! The coffee in the room did not come with the proper filters for the actual maker so that didn’t work. The toilet barely flushed. There are stains everywhere on the carpet! I was afraid to take off my shoes! I am traveling with my dog and had to sign something saying I would have to pay $350 cleaning fee if she soiled the carpet. What?! The condition of ALL the carpet..how could you even tell or have the nerve to charge for damage to that? WiFi did not work either! The breakfast was mediocre at best with NO COFFEE at 7 am in the morning! This is not even close to a discount hotel condition! I Don’t need much when traveling just basic amenities and cleanliness which this hovel did not have! Missing tiles and uneven floors throughout the property. Also missing ceiling tiles in hallways
