It is well known that we Aussies just love to have a good time, so consider staying a little longer and check out the Bell Tower and St Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral, in Dumaguete, 60 kilometres to the southeast of Mabinay. Some of our recommended Dumaguete hotels include the Island’s Leisure Boutique Hotel & Spa and Check Inn Pension Arcade. Or, you could stay in Bacong, 65 kilometres to the southeast of Mabinay, where you'll find the Sta. Monica Beach Club and Atlantis Dive Resort Dumaguete. Regardless of whether you're passing through or spending a few nights in Bacong, set aside a little time to visit Belfry and Mount Talinis.
95 kilometres to the east of Mabinay is Panglao, a regional centre with a population of 7000, home to great tourist attractions like the Alona Beach, Danao Beach and Momo Beach. The Doljo Beach and Virgin Island are also worth your time. Panglao has places to stay to suit most budgets and tastes, such as the ChARTs Resort and ART-Café and Palms Cove Resort.
Dumaguete Airport is the most convenient airport for flying in and out of Mabinay and is 60 kilometres from the CBD. If you choose to stay nearby, try the Plaza Maria Luisa Suites Inn or the Honeycomb Tourist Inn.
