Reception staff were polite, friendly and helpful. I was given an upgraded room owing to my having a medium sized suitcase with me. However, even the room I was allocated was 'bijou': barely large enough for a carry-on bag. The hotel was clean. The stairways and passages were cramped, owing to the age and design of the building. The single bed was comfortable and, despite the room looking out on to Gower Street, it was quiet at night. Breakfast was a little disappointing, having just returned from a hotel in Belgium I had slightly higher expectations of what constitutes a Continental breakfast. A choice of bread rolls would be preferable to rather poor quality sliced bread. Coffee that had been allowed to go cold was less appealing than the Nescafe in the room.

Shower was barely a trickle meaning washing shampoo out of your hair is nearly impossible. The general walls were full of cracks and lack of paint where flooding (presumably) had been. Large step up to bathroom and then step down into shower.

Shower didn’t work. I was told the boiler was broken. However even when that was fixed the thermostatic mixer shower did not work. Room is very small. Room G3 WiFi did not work, kept dropping out. Room used to be a corridor and has been made into a bedroom.

Incredible value for money. Much better than I was expecting for what I paid. Clean, tidy and comfy. Price included breakfast which I thought would be very basic but was actually very good. Will definitely use again when I'm in London.

Location good, accommodation tired and small.

Room was reasonably clean, but the cabin single is very small. Furniture was past its best, external door from the room which did not lock. Bathroom very tired and shower in particular felt a bit grimy, did not drain properly. Staff were polite and helpful, the location is excellent.

Quiet and convenient

Good for a one night stay. Convenient position. Quiet and clean. Felt a bit cramped. Bed side lamp didn’t work. The shower door was a stiff to open from the outside.
