We found the hotel very nice and we loved the main building and room. But when we turned down the bed it became apparent the sheets had not been changed. There were several hairs on the bed and the sheets were wrinkled as they would be if someone had slept in them. My partner was a housekeeper at Hilton in Mystic, CT many years ago and confirmed these sheets were used. Also there was hair in the sink and bathtub. We had just put everything into the room and it was late and a very cold evening so we asked the desk clerk if we could have new sheets and we would change the bed. He had difficulty finding sheets but was able to accommodate us with new sheets. In retrospect we should have asked for a clean room and just moved everything there. When I quietly and politely explained the situation to the daytime desk clerk when checking out the only response was a perfunctory apology. That was disappointing because the staff person handing the breakfast was extremely pleasant as was the night clerk - although he really should have suggested another room if one were available. We have several photos of the bed and bathroom as well as our changing of the sheets. Otherwise we loved our stay there.

Rooms were clean. The person checking us in was pleasant but not overly helpful. He did tell us to just go straight and we would run into town. There we would find plenty of places to eat. We did enjoy the breakfast.
