If arriving by car, beware. Two lanes of taxi rank in front of hotel. No where for us to park. Had to find a public car park, then walk to hotel to check in. Staff advised us to park just off footpath then unload bags from car. Then given instructions of hotel accredited car park which is a 8 minute walk away. If arriving by train, no worries, as station opposite hotel. Think that hotel website could give forward warnings of car parking situation in advance.

Hotel Continental was highly convenient for the railway station as we were arriving there quite late on the night of our stay and leaving promptly in the morning by a fairly early train. By the standards of accommodation within close vicinity of a railway station this hotel is well situated. The area is safe, clean and in no way seedy. My daughter and I had stayed at Hotel Continental a week prior to our last stay. I would say that unfortunately I am not able to give as good a review for the second stay. It seemed that the first room had been updated more recently. On our second stay there were some stains on the carpet and the room was smaller and generally shabbier. The worst feature was the lavatory. When flushed water shot up and splashed over the seat. Unhygienic. After my first visit I gave a generally very good review apart from mentioning that only one pillow was provided for each bed. This is minimal, surely an extra couple of pillows could be in reserve in the wardrobe, ready to use, in clean pillowcases, should they be required. As it was I asked about the bedding on arrival and was handed an extra pillow, hastily accessed from near the reception desk, which I was to carry upstairs with my luggage.

Great location for getting around.
The reception staff are excellent and the location outside the station couldn’t be better. It’s also much quieter than most hotels in such a central location. The room is pretty basic but clean and comfortable.
