The room was clean and nicely presented. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and included toiletries and nice towels. Staff members were polite and helpful. It was great to have access to a laundry.

Very clean room, it had plenty of beds, which made our stay incredibly convenient and comfortable without feeling cramped. The highlight, however, was the washroom. It was genuinely huge!

At first blush, looked like a scene from a horror movie but learned never to judge a book by its cover!! Surpassed our expectations! More amenities than most motels, huge space, lots of blankets, pillows and kitchen/ cooking utensils. The staff were lovely and helpful. Laundry was easy and fast to do. The restaurants in town were a total vibe for a Friday night. Close to walks, glaciers, waterfalls. Would absolutely stay here again!

My review applies mainly to the backpacker room, which I accidentally booked. While it did have a private bathroom and shower, it lacked basic amenities—there wasn’t even a kettle to boil water. Unfortunately, we arrived just as the staff member on duty (who had been unwell) was leaving, despite confirming over the phone she'd be there until 6PM (reception is meant to be open until 7PM). She saw us drive in but continued on, which left us without assistance on arrival. As a family of four, we would have happily upgraded to two double rooms—there were many available—but without staff on-site, this wasn’t possible. Another disappointment was that the games room (one of the key reasons we chose this place) was also closed. The shared kitchen, as part of the campground facilities, had no forks or spoons available. When I spoke to the owner the next morning, she explained that utensils often go missing. I’d suggest placing a basic set in backpackers room with no alternative and charging guests if they're not returned. This was the only night of our 12-day South Island trip we had planned to eat in, so the experience was quite frustrating. I understand that staff getting sick is out of anyone’s control, but it was unfortunate not to be welcomed or offered options. I can only speak honestly about our experience. That said, I do want to mention that the other rooms looked clean, modern, and very inviting—as I could see through the windows!
