Holiday Let In Stunning Location, Great For Families And Outdoor Enthusiasts
Stoer Villa is a recently refurbished traditional home, that is spacious and cosy - ideal for families and large groups. A perfect base for outdoor activities, Stoer has stunning views of the sea and mountains, great fishing, and a beautiful sandy beaches.
Stoer Villa is a late 19th century stone house, with a modern kitchen extension and large front and back gardens. The interior has been completely refurbished, but in keeping with the style of building. Downstairs we have three main rooms (kitchen, dining room and living room) and two bathrooms. The kitchen is brand new and comfortably sits eight. The dinning room is an attractive space, with traditional furniture, and sits a further six. The living room has a wood-burning stove, comfortable sofas and a large flat-screen TV (smart-TV and satellite). Of the three upstairs bedrooms, one is en suite and one is set up as a kids' room. The kids' room has a bunk bed and the other two rooms have twin beds. The living room sofa also doubles as a bed for extra guests or those who find stairs difficult. All three bathrooms are equipped with modern showers. Please note the attic bedroom is currently unavailable.
Whether you are looking for relaxing family orientated activities or more adventurous outdoor pursuits, Stoer is the perfect base. There is a beautiful white sand beach less than 250 m from the front door, and two others within 3 miles. There are many easier coastal walks, with fantastic sea views across to the Minch to the Outer Hebrides. The quiet single lane roads around Stoer are excellent for cycling and provide spectacular mountain and sea views. Several tour operators offer boat tours out of Lochinver, pony trekking, and various other activities, such as Lama trekking. The area is popular for fishing. You can fish for Brown trout on any of the smaller lochs for free, and salmon fishing is available on Loch Assynt and the River Assynt. There is also excellent sea fishing. For the hard-core outdoor enthusiast, you can hike up Sulliven, one of Scotland's most remote summits, or any of the other hills to the north and south. The coast is superb for sea kayaking (kayaks can be rented locally), and the area is well known for rock climbing. Excellent longer cycling trips can be made along the coastal roads.
The house comfortably accommodates six adults and two children. With assistance, a wheelchair guest could manage the ground floor and use the sofa-bed, but the house is not strictly wheelchair friendly. All bedrooms are fitted with smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Pets are permitted, but smoking is not permitted in the house. The house energy efficiency rating is Band E (44).

The nearest airport is Inverness. To get from the airport to Stoer, first take the A96 towards Inverness city, then turn north along the A9, over the Kessock Bridge. At the first roundabout after the bridge, take the A835 exit to Ullapool. From Ullapool continue to follow the A835 and then the A837 to Lochinver. About 1/4 mile before entering the village of Lochinver, there is a turning to the right (B896), which is sign-posted to Stoer. This is a single-track road with passing places. Continue along this road, following signs to Stoer, for 7 miles. Stoer is a small hamlet about 1 mile after the Clachtoll caravan site. Stoer Villa is the second house on the left and the parking is beyond the house, behind the old stone stables. From Inverness airport it takes approximately 2.5 hours by car to Stoer.
There are daily buses between Stoer and Ullapool, and from there to Inverness.

Many thanks
Very comfy and cosy house, it’s in a small village which isn’t clear but has a lovely back and front garden. Just a quick walk to the amazing beach
The road I thought might be busy with 500 ers but they had to drive slowly so wasn’t noisy.
Bring a sharp knife!

All fine for a family stay
Functional house to stay in, within close walking distance to the beach, which is great with young children.
Everything worked in the property, though as of 2023 it is looking very tired.
Note that the double room is separate to the other three, and the stairs to it are not suitable for young children.

Family stay
We came to visit the area that my husbands family is from & absolutely loved the house. We had lots of space and a fully stocked kitchen which was a great addition. We would highly recommend for families with kids!

A few minor issues
The main light in the bathroom at the bottom of the stairs did not work. The woodburning stove in the living room had no glass in the door, we did not light the fire as the temperature was sufficiently high for us to not need any heating on in the house, but this should probably be repaired for others. The window in the bedroom above the kitchen would not close and we did not want to force it. The hot tap not working in the bathroom off the kitchen was a bit annoying. We used a flan dish once and it developed a crack across the base but we did not mistreat it in any way.
Apart from these items the house was really good and perfect for our short stay.

Friends on a swimming trip
House was warm and very clean with a really wel-equipped kitchen and cosy living room. Overall plenty of space for 4 of us to hang out and also to have our own bedroom. The whole process was very smooth. Our only quibble was that a few of the mattresses could use replacing. Other than that a lovely house in a gorgeous location

Very nice property. Close to beautiful beaches. Beautiful views! Quiet. Old home. Spacious. Very well equipped kitchen. No wifi upstairs but that's because the house is so big. Would recommend.

Holiday in Stoer Villa
Insufficient towels provided. We have extensive experience of rental properties and have never had extra charges imposed for host fees, cleaning and service. We would have cancelled on discovering about them except that the location was ideal. These charges should have been publicised, and included in the original advertisement. I would not book with Vrbo again.

It is a really nice house
It was unfortunate that the WiFi wasn't working and it would have been better if we'd known beforehand. The house was everything we'd hoped for and we enjoyed it very much.
We rent houses at least twice a year and this was excellent for the money
A small pointer for the owner - it costs very little relatively to supply a wrap of loo rolls and it's very annoying to have to travel lots of miles before even the Monday to replenish the one in each loo. It's a small thing I know but it feels mean
Otherwise great stay despite the weather.

Chaotic arrival.
On arrival the property was damp and cold, extremely uninviting after a long journey. Once we made contact with the caretaker, who had our arrival down as the next day, and sorted out the heating we were fine but the screen that needed us on arrival came close to us turning round abd travelling home.

Stoer Villa was very clean and had everything you will need. There was plenty of space inside for 5 adults, two 6 years olds and 1 large dog! It is also just 5 mins walk from a fabulous beach which we managed to spend all our time there most days as our weather war really good. Would like to go back again.

October break
This house was perfect for our stay in Assynt. The location only involves a short distance of single track road so is accessible and the area is stunning. Loads of walks very near by and good provisions available in Lochinver. The house was very warm and the showers are always hot - the two most important things. Kitchen is well equipped and everything works well. Overall we loved our holiday and would recommend this property for families and groups.

Amazing location
A lovely house in a remote part of north-west Scotland that is well worth the lengthy drive.
The house is well equipped and there is a superb (and largely quiet) beach just a couple of minutes walk away.
Great walks and views from the front door, including the breathtaking trek from Stoer lighthouse to the Old Man.
Can't wait to head back there again and explore more.

Remote beauty
The house is set in rugged sheep country - scenery just breathtaking. The check-in process was challenging. Access instructions were vague. We arrived near dusk and could not find the lockbox which was located behind the house. The lockbox itself was very tricky to open if the numbers were not Exactly lined up. It was raining, windy, and cold and my husband and a friend of owner FINALLY managed to get open. When we did get in, the house was cold. Heat was on but it took most of the night for it to get warm. There was a teaspoon of washing up liquid, no dishwasher soap, and approximately two 1/4 rolls of toilet paper in the entire house. Now this is self-catering, but considering the remoteness, I don’t think it’s too much to expect a couple of rolls of toilet paper and some dishwashing soap. The kitchen was well-equipped with pots and pans and dishes.
