The only good thing about this place was the location. The rooms and property was extremely old and seemed as they cut corners on expenses as much as possible. I have paid much less for much nicer rooms before.

Mixed feelings about this stay. Michael was helpful when we first checked in & gave great customer service. View is 10/10 but the room itself is not worth the price by a long shot. One elevator was out of service so with a wedding on the rooftop, we were forced to take the stairs…our room was on the 4th floor. Pool - all towels were used & dirty so I had to return to the office (via stairs) to get towels/service at the pool…did I mention the room is not worth the price? Run down, old, thin mattress…needs updating. Bottom line- would not recommend.

2 different hotels in one.

The pictures are incredibly deceiving. There are two sides to the hotel, one looks like the pictures of the nicer side and one does not fully show the other side. The rooms are completely different. The beds on the lesser side are not comfortable and even the coffee in the room is different. You cannot beat the location and the coffee shop downstairs is great. Just be aware of what side you are booking.

Great view but needs some attention

The balcony door requires two people to open it. The door to the room does not close properly and needs some attention. The bathroom toilets are outdated, reminiscent of the last century. Considering the price, more care should be taken to improve these issues.

Hotel staff pretty dang unfriendly. I asked for early check in, never got it, that’s ok. But I expected the room the be clean especially for a 4pm check in. There were used cotton swabs in the cotton swab tray and some furniture in disarray. Lighting in the bathroom was terrible. Balcony and view amazing. No signage for pool, literally NONE. Was told I needed a pool key for the pool key didn’t work.. wedding was on the rooftop blasting music so loud my whole room was shaking. Very interesting they wouldn’t notify guests. Overall won’t be back. Especially for the price.

My biggest advice- take the upgrade. The Pines is the renovated version of La Jolla Coves and very modern, clean, and functional. I initially was placed in one of the regular rooms and I would have never stayed there- the room was dirty and the quality of a cheap motel. Otherwise, this property is a fantastic location and the staff was nice. When I reported the dirty room they addressed my concerns promptly and upgraded my room.

I did not have a good stay. The property was hosting a party with "very" loud music playing right next to my accommodation. I asked the host if there was another room and was refused. Expedia/property itself should have provided heads up of the loud music in advance. Essentially, the basic function that a hotel has, to provide a safe, comfortable, clean place to rest to their guests, La Jolla Cove Suites missed the mark terribly on the comfort factor. Also, there were too many steps to get to the rooms, and no help was offered with carrying bags. Lastly, the property, at least my accommodation, was old and needs renovation.

I loved the ocean view and the balcony. There are many seals across the street and plenty of shops within walking distance. Some people might complain about the noise of the seals, but if your window is closed you can’t hear them. I kept the balcony door open just a little and I could only hear a seal once in a while at night. Waking up to that ocean view was just beautiful. I had planned to leave the following day, but I had gone to La Jolla for a medical procedure and I didn’t feel well that night, so I had my husband ask at the front desk, if we could stay another night for the same price. I don’t know if this was an exception for me, since I was still recovering. Either way, I was very grateful and they were very nice about it. I will definitely go back again. I’d also add that I stayed in one of the remodels, not the older buildings. Thank you La Jolla Cove, for making my trip less stressful.

We ended up staying here because of the views it offers right by the cove and the seals, which made our stay even more convenient since there was many things to do. Once arriving to our room, we stayed on the unrenovated side of the hotel and was disappointed with the room we got, when we found two little bugs crawling under the sheets of the bed. We told them about the situation and sent them photos. We were upgraded to a room but this time our room was on the renovated side of the hotel they call The Pine hotel and suite. Way better room, checked out the beds immediately and was very clean and pleasant, really enjoyed our stay after that.
