Charming historic machiya with all of the modern appointments! We just loved our stay here. I reserved 2 of the townhouses as we are a family of 6. 2 adults with 4 boys ages- 9,11,14,15. We were all thrilled with the accommodation and our own private onsen in the rooms. The provided bathrobes are delightful. Laundry machines are free for you to use along with provided soap. The bath products are lovely. Dyson hairdryer was an amazing perk for me with long thick hair. We walked to many locations from this spot and also was super easy to call uber as well. Loved our stay and would recommend to anyone (except those with any physical limitations as there are stairs)

It was our family’s first time staying at a machiya. It was an easy place to find upon arrival in Kyoto. The house was lovely. The tea ceremony at check-in along with the Japanese sweets were much appreciated. They were able to help us arrange for delivery of our luggage onwards to our next city. Staying at Machiya Fukune was an amazing experience! Everything we needed was available, everyone was friendly and helpful, and the relaxation of being in a home as opposed to a hotel room is unmatched. We particularly loved the two bathtubs in our Machiya, so as to have the option of relaxing in a secluded outdoor environment or indoor one. I would highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay again next time I visit Kyoto!
