At 106 square km, Killarney is home to Ireland’s tallest mountain peaks: MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, which tower up to 3,280 feet high. About a quarter of the park is covered by lakes, and the park itself is on the shores of Lough Leane, the biggest. As you might expect, there are plenty of scenic walks in the area. Take a stroll through lush, green Tomie’s Wood for waterfalls and wild deer. While you’re in the park, check out historic relics like Ross Castle and Muckross Abbey.
As well as being a nature destination, Killarney is a vibrant and colourful town with great food and pubs.
