Do not let the exterior fool you. The hotel is spotless, the rooms are relatively spacious compared to other European hotel rooms, you have a private bath, there's no a/c but the windows open and there's a fan. The breakfast buffet was minimalist, but there is a communal kitchen to which you have access 24/7. The beds are comfortable. The hotel is located a block from a grocery store and less than a mile from Gamla Stan. The hostess is incredibly friendly. I cannot say enough good things about our stay there.

This property suited our needs for an overnight stay. Parking was easy and convenient. They offered a breakfast buffet in the morning that was nice. The room was clean, as was the property. We never interacted with anyone, so if we had any questions, it might have been difficult. The area around the hotel seemed commercial, but we were just there for an overnight stay for nearby visit.

We did not receive hotel entry code. A guest eventually let us in once he clarified our name. Very poor breakfast selection. In the back of a light industrial area. There is a bus on main road 403 2 stops into town or 15 min walk. Parking limited in town.

Basic and No-frills Hotel

Kalmar Hotell is a no-frill and basic hotel. During my check-in there was no one at the reception. Rather, I was sent instruction on how to open the main door and where to pick up the key. The hotel room is also very simple, clean and basic (tea and coffee is complementary). The breakfast however leaves a lot to be desired. The bread is old and there is not much of an option. The breakfast buffet is very basic and offers mainly cold items. It is a hotel you select if you just want a place to sleep. Location wise it is outside the main city hub, hence it lacks the vibe and atmosphere of other city hotels.

Ris och ros

Hotellet är helt okej och man får det man betalar för. Stort plus för gratis parkering. Rummen är i normal standard och allt du behöver finns i dem. Litet minus för något spartansk frukost samt att det bara finns tre fungerande kanaler på tv:n. Dock kommer jag absolut att nyttja detta ställe flera gånger då priset är absolut överkomligt.
