Hotel food menu was dismal. Food was less than adequate. Limited selections. Boring food. Too corporate managed food selections. Some staff were friendly. Most were not. Resort fee and parking fees were astronomical. Nearly $100 a day! For nothing. Resort fee gives you nothing! Just a huge money grab.

Poor value for money

First let me get the only positive out of the way - the staff was excellent and especially Stacey C was very helpful by allowing us early check-in for which we are grateful as we had arrived exhausted. This review is no reflection on the hotel staff, rather the poor value for money that the hotel management chooses to provide. You can get resorts in Maui that are far far better, at much less price than Royal Lahaina. The room was tiny with no sound insulation. We could hear activity and conversations from adjoining rooms through the night, so we didn't get the best sleep. There was no washbasin in the tiny bathroom which only has a shower stall (no bathtub). The basin is located outside in the room which is not great for privacy and quiet. There was no microwave oven in the room either. The daily Luau within the hotel property was an additional source of loud noises late into the evenings. If you're looking for peace and quiet this is not the hotel you want. The parking and resort fees are excessive, and for all that money they only provide housekeeping every alternate day. However they did provide us additional towels on request. Given the price, we expected a far better experience.

For the most part it was amazing but they didn’t charge me the full amount of everything until the last night and it was frustrating having all those “extra” things being charged instead of taking care of it that first day.

The property was by the beach and very well maintained. The staff was courteous and the rooms were clean. It was very near Whalers Village, making it easy for dining and shopping.

I had to change rooms as i was given a room in tower on 6th floor that smelt mouldy. The next room was good. The dining options were very expensive. Breakfast buffet was okay. The location is amazing for walking to Whalers.

Great location, comfortable beds and great AC. Lahaina Noon restaurant was good. Nice pool and excellent beach out front. Great coffee in the room, which is always appreciated. A little weird service checking in. The bellman weren't super helpful at the beginning. We booked this hotel through Expedia because it was a VIP hotel, usually meaning extra perks and we got nothing. Our room and view was nice on the 10th floor, but we were told an upgrade wasnt available. Too bad they dont have a hot tub anymore. Overall a good experience.

I always stay at the Royal Lahaina when I go to Maui. I love the authenticity of the hotel mixed with high quality experiences. The food at the restaurant is fantastic. My room was upgraded when I arrived. If you need anything, you just ask and they get it for you. It’s just a perfect getaway!I love that the beach is never crowded and that it feels like my own private heaven. I will be back again and again!!!
