Chalet Barbara, a wooden-style apartment in Saanen, is located on the southern slope, 100 metres above Jaun, with a magnificent view of the valley and the surrounding mountains. The Alpine region begins right behind the house; the winter road ends here. A short distance away (200 m) lies the Fribourg Alpine Trail, offering ideal and varied opportunities for hiking. In addition, the area offers many opportunities for snowshoeing, rock climbing (climbing routes), mountain biking, fishing, swimming (e.g., in the warmest lake in Switzerland or at a nearby spa), and much more. The “Vanile Noir” National Park is easy to reach and features a large population of wild goats, rare plant species, and pristine meadows: it’s also a “hidden gem.” During the summer solstice, we and our guests find the coolness on the balcony and in the apartment at night—after hot days—to be refreshing. At more than 1,000 metres above sea level, the nights—even on very hot days—are always refreshing. Furthermore, the home’s location between Bern and Lake Geneva is central, making many major Swiss cities—such as the federal capital Freiburg, Interlaken, Thun, Lausanne, and others, accessible in less than an hour by car. <br>The house is powered by the village’s own CO2-free hydroelectric energy and is therefore highly environmentally friendly. Under no circumstances should you miss the chance to try the world’s best gruyère cheese. In winter, there are many winter sports facilities on the hotel grounds and in the surrounding area. A 5-km toboggan run is part of the resort, and a ski lift system has been in operation here for a few years. This means you don’t necessarily have to arrive or depart on Saturdays; you can arrive and depart almost any day, but on Sundays only upon special request.<br>If you’d like to stay with 2 or 3 families, this apartment will be too small.
