This place felt incredibly unsafe after we were given the key to someone else’s occupied room (and the occupant returned while we were at the door). There were people loitering all over. The rooms smelled musty and didn’t look clean. The carpets were wet. We booked somewhere else after 5 minutes. We wouldn’t let our kids stay here.

I was extremely dissatisfied with my stay. The television didn't work and no one ever came to fix it. the room was musky and I was miserable the entire time. I couldn't find another hotel because I had prepaid for the stay. I am still waiting on the manangement to call me but no one has. dont stay here! The onl reason I stayed here is because they accepted pets. But never again!

[Note: This review is for the 2nd story rooms, which I believe are renovated and cost slightly extra] There are not many budget hotels on Hilton Head island. I had a pleasant stay and would book here again. It has a pool. I stayed here on two occasions and stayed in different rooms on the 2nd [top] floor. Both were very new, clean, and functional. It was quiet while I was here - probably because Hilton Head being a resort island it doesn’t have any long-term/homeless/Section 8/Government Assistance people staying there.

It is suppose to be a smoke free room, the room smelled of old smoke! The linen was dirty & BLOODY! The room was extremity small, dirty, and disgusting. The phone in the room did not work. Front desk was very rude. We left immediately after we seen it. Do not stay here. This place is not worth the time nor money!

Prices are very affordable, room was nice and clean, you can be at Burke's beach in less than 5 minutes, and first pet stays for free.

The bed was uncomfortable mattress was worn out or just super cheap. The pillows needed to be thrown out felt like rocks. Didn’t sleep much and woke up with a sharp pain in my back.

Truth

There was a man smoking marijuana in the doorway next to our room and then the roaches in the bathroom didn’t help. I reported this to the manager, who seemed to care, but I was not going to stay there with my child. According to Hotels.com m, Red Roof refused to give me a refund.

Shocked to find that we had to upgrade in order to have a microwave and refrigerator in the room. No iron or hair dryer, or coffee maker. Floor was filthy black. No breakfast and only coffee in the lobby until noon. The staff was nice and helpful though. The landscaping was very nice as was the pool area.
