Pleasant but very average and needs improvements
The hotel looks very appealing from the outside and in a lovely location. We were happy with our first impression.
As we checked in, we were welcomed with a heavy smoke in the bar area which we blamed on where they may have just lit the fire but this lasted all evening unfortunately.
The food at dinner was outstanding, so tasty and the staff were very friendly & attentive.
Our room was extremely hot and we tried to turn the radiator down but we were only able to turn it down slightly so had to sleep with the windows wide open all night. The room was pleasant and tidy. The bathroom was average and I think could benefit from a little TLC in areas due to slight rust in places and built up limescale on the shower head and shower doors. Due to this built up limescale and half the door hanging off its hinge, you weren’t able to close the shower door.
Breakfast was delicious, coffee was lovely but the smoke made it unpleasant again as the whole bar area was full of smoke, we’ve come home and stink of smoke unfortunately. Even with the best efforts of opening the windows, it was still an issue.
I think the bar area & restaurant would benefit with some music or some sort of background noise as it was very quiet and awkward.
Overall a nice pleasant stay, very average but definitely needs some improvement.
