Lovely location, beautiful views and beaches. Wonderful experience of turtle watching. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast buffet. Accomodation tired. Shower tap fell off. Buffet dinner restrictive and expensive if you don't have a big appetite. Bird droppings abundant and smelly. Birds noisy at night.

Beautiful island waters

Heron Island's marine beauty is why we were there. It is magnificent! The accommodation is comfortable; the staff are friendly and welcoming; and the food was okay. The birds are ever present - fascinating but can be overwhelming as well.

Great location difficult to get to from sydney sea

Pros: The only 1on heron
Cons: Some talks for the evening
Location: Only the island in its natural state
Had a wonderful break with pristine water and healthy coral , plenty of fish barrier reef at its finest makes you aware of importance of the reef for everyone . Resort was great with wonderful attentive staff , very knowledgeable activities guide research station was very interesting with opportunities for volunteers. A great place to visit an escape from all It devices .

Quiet tropical island

Our room on the first floor was very clean with lovely speckled views of the sea Staff were all very friendly and professional and it was obvious that a lot of them were very passionate about the special nature of the islands wild life focus Food was ok. One meal (Trevalla fish )was inedible... It would be good to add another option for dining Pool was great until chlorine added Definitely need umbrellas around the pool area Need to warn visitors when they arrive about handling of disoriented baby turtles at night I would certainly return again

Resort prices for average accommodation

Pros: Location incredible. Food delicious but expensive
Cons: Lots could be improved - staff who care; cleaning and attention to detail - there was a dirty sheet in our cupboard for our entire 5 night stay
Location: Isolated island with incredible bird life and turtles and other reef life of sharks, sting rays, beautifully coloured fish. Great snorkelling.
Heron Island is an amazing and unique exoerience. The resort is disappointing. While the food in the only restaurant was delicious it was very expensive. The only other food option is the bar which sold a few uninspiring sandwiches or rolls. The rooms are adequate with the cleanliness leaving a lot to be desired. The staff are pleasant but generally disinterested in their work and customers. The resort relies on the amazing bird life attractions and the magnificent turtles and reef to sell itself. It does but a little more comfort and attention and service from staff would make this better value and deserve a resort title.

Pros: being on the reef and all the wildlife: Birds, sharks, turtles, sea cucumbers etc. My partner is blind and he enjoyed the cacophony of sounds and smells and the ease of being able to get around.
Cons: It took a few days talking to other guests to figure out all the good snorkelling spots and where was best in certain wind conditions etc. The resort could sell the great attributes of the island a little better. eg I only heard belatedly from another guest about watching the sunset over the wreck. A real highlight!

Birds, Turtles and Pristine Beaches

Pros: Beaches, snorkelling, reef.
Cons: Staff, Bar and Pool area, Food.
Location: Terrific!
Transfers good, rooms OK , staff inexperienced or rude. Beaches, coral, reef superb. Inundated with birds with accompanying bird droppings, noise and unfriendly attacks looking for food. Resort Bar and Pool area very tired. Food average.
