Life is good in Hatteras at the 5,000-square-foot oceanfront Down By The Sea, less than a mile from Hatteras Village Park. This lovely home features a landscaped yard, ample parking, and a huge, oceanfront private pool with all the furnishings you need, plus a private hot tub. Additionally, you'll also enjoy access to the HOA community pool, bathrooms, and nature trail. This spectacular ground-floor escapade has been recently completed with new flooring, paint, and decor. You can also find a custom wet bar with butcher block counters along with a multicade video game system with over 60 classic video games to play!

The first and second bedrooms share a bathroom on the entry-level. The third poolside bedroom features a private bath and its own private entrance to the pool area. The new basement wet bar with butcher block countertops includes a built-in ice maker and refrigerator making it a perfect place to have a family happy hour. The open area also features a pool table, multicade machine, and flat-screen TV for endless hours of fun and excitement. The laundry nook is located midlevel. The recently refreshed fourth bedroom is upstairs and includes a full bathroom. The fifth and sixth bedrooms also have been updated and share a Jack and Jill bathroom. The seventh and eighth bedrooms are both oceanfront rooms with deck access and private en suite baths. Bedroom nine also features an en suite bath. Recent upgrades to the home include a completely remodeled third-floor great room with new flooring, updated furniture, a gas fireplace, and a TV with streaming capability. The kitchen features a two-corner breakfast bar and a large dining area, plus lots of countertop space and a double oven. Outdoors, the huge, south-facing sundeck is furnished and oriented for ocean and pool watching. A new poolside cabana bar with a sink and electric and concrete countertops means even more fun times spent socializing outside. Great family beach house!

We had an amazing time in this house! We were a small group for the giant house but the open kitchen/great room with deck view of the ocean was so perfect. Great service. Walk right to private beach and .25 to every shop. Could not have asked for more!

Great retreat

We used this property for a home base for our race team (9 adults). It was a great oceanfront retreat. Everyone had plenty of private space with large, open common areas. Kitchen had everything we needed. Hot tub was perfect! Checkout instructions were clear & easy. Would stay here again!

We love this place! The house is big enough for us all to be under one roof (which is perfect for this mom of all grown kids) and still have our own space! The beach is fantastic! I just wish the top deck was a little higher so we could see over the dune in front of the house…. But we love it and are already counting the days until our next visit!

Very nice house on the oceanfront. Easily accommodated our extended family group. The only real negative was the cookware, specifically the frying pans. They were beyond their useful life. Personally, I would replace all of them but one.

The house was in an excellent area. The house wasn't swept up too good. The top balcony railing over looking the pool is loose. The door in the lower bedroom going to the hot tub will not lock. The rubber around it was not all on. The guests that were there before us did not take the garbage cans to the curb. They also had one garbage can that was broke with a chair in it. We did not take that one up due to it being broke.

The house we rented was a bit outdated, but the bigger issue was that it was not clean. Lights did not work, the microwave in the kitchen was broken and there was mold in the refrigerator ice dispenser. If the house was clean and things were not broken, would have been a much nicer rental.

Location was great. The house could use some TLC. Issues with the elevator when we got there and it was fixed the next day but not great for loading in. Drains could use attention Dishwasher on island is not attached to the counter correctly and the heavy door is dangerous. Two people hurt their feet. Bathroom towel racks missing and ice maker in kitchen didn’t work Some minor work on these areas would make a good experience great!

Lowdown on down by the sea

The location and access to beach terrific. Plenty of room for 18 was good. Very comfortable, beds ok, views wonderful. Unfortunately, septic tank backed up into bottom floor bathrooms, top floor bath toilet ran constantly and elevator didn’t run for 4 days until handyman came to reset. It took 4 days to remediate which wasn’t good. One reason I chose this property was the elevator because one guest is over 70 with arthritic knees. Overpaid considering a main feature was out over half our time there. I would consider renting again if problems are fixed.

Nice place, amazing beachfront location

Very nice beach house. The picture may be pretty old, it looks a little older than that picture but just because the shingles are weathered now. In general it was nice. There were a few broken things when we got there, not really an issue but I didn't want to be blamed for breaking them (the towel rack in one of the buddy bathrooms on the second floor as well as the vanity door in that same bathroom was falling off). The WiFi password sent to me in the email was wrong but we figured that out. The house was clean and well stocked with dishes and silverware. Overall, I was pleased.
