Not what I would consider a resort

Just meh. Trash from other rooms was in the hallway and blew around the walkway. Building felt old and a bit grungy. Marks on the doors and walls outside and in room. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. They offer free towels, everything else is an extra charge. We wouldn't stay here again.

Bed was comfortable, unit was remodeled. Upon arrival we didnt have items from maid cart, so we ask for them. The floor felt sandy and was dirty when I wiped it. Fridge icemaker does not work, even after maintenance checked it, #905. Hall light only works sporadically. Slow water in baths. Very few kitchen items available. Lock on balcony door didnt work until maintenance fixed it. AC unit in bedroom hardly puts out any air, had to leave door open for extra coolness in unit. Maintenance checked it. Definitely needs daily cleaning on this property, as elevators, walkways, hallways were all not cleaned daily. Restaurant was great!

The place was alright. The room we got is a different story. It was dirty and for the price it’s honestly not worth it. The tub was dirty there was hair in the sink. I did let them know our towel were dirty. Spider web on the ceiling. Outlet was out of the wall. I didn’t even want to sit on the sofa. It was just so worn out. I’m sorry but I will not stay again. The staff was great can’t complain.

We really enjoyed our stay at Shell Island resort, as always. The room we had was very peaceful and the view is always beautiful. The only issue that we had is that the maids were being extremely loud at 8 o’clock in the morning right outside our door. I really thought a party was going on. I thought it was extremely rude to be hooping and hollering like they were when people are trying to sleep on vacation. I would not expect that of the staff at oh my gosh, thank you you’re welcome, so I was really disappointed and quite irritated about it. It woke everybody up. Other than that, the beach is a short walk and very convenient, and the pool is very nice. We had a great time other than that.

I like that this is Beach Front, as well as viewable beachfront from the balcony. In our particular room, there were blood stains in the bathroom on the wall, missing tiles in the bathroom, patches on the wall that were different color. Paint, the couch had rips in it, we found leftover items in the couch cushions, there was no bag for ice so I had to make sure that the ice bucket was washed out before we used it. We were expected to wash the dishes that we use, but there were no towels (only paper towels) to dry them off with. The hot tub was like lukewarm bath water, and the restaurant on site served anything that seemed like it was microwavable ready.

Arrived after 10pm on a Friday (called ahead to let them know)...got to the room, and there were no sheets for the pull-out. Called and asked for sheets/pillows. After 45 minutes, called again and was told "My shift started at 11pm, so I didn't know." Last staff member forgot to send these, and forgot to pass along the task. Went to collect the items and was told there were no pillows "because we're booked". Rooms have a kitchenette, so I made breakfast Saturday...but while they provided soap, there was no sponge...so I used a paper towel, and figured the sponge would be resupplied by housekeeping. By mid-afternoon, they hadn't come by, so I checked the info sheet given at check-in, and saw that housekeeping is only "upon request". Would have been nice to have been told this verbally, as I'm really not interested in reading assignments from the place I'm paying for a relaxing weekend. Saturday morning, we realized there were only 2 bath towels for 4 people, so we called and requested additional towels...which also never came, so we had to get them ourselves later that afternoon. At that point, we were planning on hitting the beach...and noted the $50 charge for an umbrella and 2 chairs. I also noted they charge $45/hr for late checkout. For $500/night at a beach hotel, housekeeping should be daily, I shouldn't need to retrieve sheets/towels myself, shouldn't be shorted pillows, and you shouldn't be charged extra for late checkout or for umbrellas and chairs.

The unit was in a great location. Staff could have done more to pick up trash around the pool area and walkway to the beach. Also, the facility ran out of olive juice for martinis as well as a couple of other things which was disappointing.

Like other reviewers have mentioned this “resort” could use a serious remodel. The amenities are subpar, the furnishings look like something you would find at a Goodwill and the water smells like sulfur. It is basically a overpriced Motel 6 with a spectacular view. The staff (especially Rachel) are very kind and accommodating.
