From the moment I checked in, and found I had left my mobile in the taxi, the staff were wonderful. The hotel is in a quiet area (I stayed over the weekend) but within walking distance of Hamburg’s wonderful public transport system and close to the Rathaus (15 minutes walk). Breakfast (included) was good, varied and catered to most tastes - not sure about the organic cornflakes though. As I travelled by myself, I would have liked an evening food option at the hotel but plenty of alternatives nearby. I elected for a late check out - 4pm - which was a very reasonable €20.

Joke of a privacy policy

I’ve never been more angry at a hotel. The person at reception “Jon” not only gave my friends my room number, when I wanted to be left alone, but also gave them a key card to my room. I’m pretty sure this is illegal, at the very least a breach of their privacy policy. I wasn’t answering for a reason and wanted to be left alone, and yet, whilst in the bath, someone comes into my room. The security is disgusting.
