This was the worst experience we’ve ever had with a hotel. We booked La Quinta Inn & Suites Greenville Haywood through Expedia because it clearly listed a 24-hour front desk. At no point during booking did it mention a 2 AM check-in cutoff. Only after payment did the confirmation email reveal this restriction.
We called the hotel within minutes of booking. The front-desk clerk said their “system was down,” refused to help, and told us to call back later. Expedia agents also tried twice to contact the hotel and received no answer. Minutes later the clerk answered our call, denied any calls from Expedia, and refused to check us in because we were arriving “past the cutoff.”
When we asked for a manager, we were told none was on site and that management was “away in Texas.” Neither we nor Expedia were ever able to reach anyone in charge, and no one followed up. We never even stayed here—the hotel refused check-in, kept our $167 payment, and left us searching for another room in the middle of the night.
We have screenshots showing that at the time of booking no cutoff was displayed on the Expedia listing; it appears the page was updated afterward. Weeks later we’re still disputing the charge through American Express. The lack of accountability, honesty, and basic professionalism from this property has been unbelievable.
Avoid this hotel. The listing is misleading, management unreachable, and customer service nonexistent.
