The Inn was lovey, but in need of some upgrades, especially the carpet in the halls. Stayed on the second floor, by the pool, and the smell of chlorine was throughout.

Great Stay

We had a great stay. The hotel is a short walk from everything. The breakfast at the attached restaurant was great. I highly recommend this if you are in Plymouth.

They could use some upgrades...little things like power strips. I had to unplug a lamp to plug in my computer. Every outlet has something plugged into it and there simply aren't enough of them.

The hotel was recently renovated, so I was excited to stay here again. However the toilet didn’t work even after we called for maintenance and they said they “fixed” it. The shower wall looked like it hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived, and there was debris on the floor by the closet as if they hadn’t swept or mopped. The heater/air conditioner was so noisy we tried not to use it.

The staff at the John Carver are very nice. When we had an issue they were very apologetic and tried their best to correct it. However, the problem shouldn’t have occurred in the first place. We checked in at the front desk no problem. When we got to our room everything appeared fine, however they had recently painted the door frame. And by recent, I mean in previous hour or two. I know this because we got paint on our hands and some of our belongings and the door was sticking shut because of the wet paint. That room should not have been available for guests to check into. When we went down to notify the front desk and request a different room, the girl at the desk could not have been more apologetic and sweet. Obviously it wasn’t her fault. But clearly there was poor communication with the management and maintenance staff. They did move us to another room, but it was a hassle moving our things and we still ended up with paint in several places on our body and belongings from brushing against the wet door and frame. I would not stay at the John Carver in the future. While is a perfect location in Plymouth, it is pretty run down and sorely in need of maintenance. And the management and maintenance staff really need to communicate better.
