Oceanfront Glass House on Private Deserted Pink Sand Beach
Bonefish Barbis Beach Bungalow Beachhouse is an oceanfront vacation rental located in Eleuthera, Bahamas (Fodor's Travel Guide said that Eleuthera is one of the most beautiful Bahamian islands).
This modern two bedroom/two bath house sits atop a bluff directly on the ocean with a panoramic view of a horizon full of whitecaps generated by nearby offshore reefs. Many of these reefs are within swimming distance in shallow waters. The house is surrounded by flowers, especially an assortment of different colors of bourganvillas. The beach in front of the house is virtually deserted and you can walk for miles either way on beautiful white/pink powder soft sand-- you probably wont see another person.

This property is a disaster. The fit and finish is something I would be embarrassed to show anyone. The stairs that lead to the beach are unsafe and need to be torn out completely and rebuilt. I am a licensed general contractor that regularly appears in count as a witness for two local law firms. Here, at the end of my career, I can say honestly say that this there is not a safe path of travel to the beach below. Repairs on this house through the years have been done cheaply and never seem like any have been completed. USE EXTERIOR GRADE FASTENERS FOR ALL EXTERIOR REPAIRS. The sofa needs to be replaced. we covered it with sheets, and the entire support system of the sofa is shot. This unit looked clean for the first five minutes we were there. When we turned on the ceiling fans, a clump of dust fell on me and behind a picture above the sofa, a clump of dust/bugs fell onto my wife. We looked for another place at that point but could not find anything. So, we cleaned. The dryer door is bent and has to be lifted to close. We were told in out "welcome letter" that the jug of water on the sink was for drinking and that it was not recommended to drink the tap water. That's fine. But why do I have to refill it? Potable water is the host's responsibility. You are asked to buy another jug if it runs out. If I would have known that I would never have leased this. The seal on the driveway door is poor and lets in bugs. Mold was present on various surfaces-millwork, tile etc.

Words can’t describe how amazing the beach and the views are at this property. It was truly a unique and unforgettable getaway! The home was well equipped for us to cook meals and we had plenty of towels, etc… I highly recommend Bonefish Barbi’s!

The host is excellent and the property is in a good location with a great view, the a/c works well and there is good snorkeling right out front. It’s a dated property that needs some work outside, nails are sticking up on the deck you have to be careful of and some of the steps going down to the beach need to be replaced. There is a lot of litter that washes up on the beach and the residents do their best to keep the area picked up but if you walk the long stretch of deserted beach to the south it is covered in plastic litter above the tide. You can hardly step without landing on a piece of plastic. It was heartbreaking to see.

Spectacular View
We loved our stay at the Beachfront Glass House. This rental is certainly all about the view! The Glass House sits up on a bluff with a magnificent view of the Atlantic.( For those with mobility issues there are quite a few steps down to the beach.) Also, there are some uneven, raised areas on the deck that you need to mindful of. The beach itself is beautiful, but because of uneven rocks near the shore it’s challenging to wade in. (If you go north or south on the beach there are some unobstructed areas where you can wade in.)The layout of the house couldn’t be better. It features a large common area with kitchen, and living room. In this common area there is a dining table adjacent to the kitchen. (We would have loved a table and umbrella on the deck!) We also think the grill might be better if placed on the front deck next to the kitchen. There is a nice separation between the two bedrooms that are located on either side of the house. The owner, Barbi, is a great communicator and gets back to quickly with any questions you might have. For future renters we’d recommend getting a shopping service to have the house stocked with what you’d like to have when you arrive. We did, and what a difference it made!At this rental the pluses outweigh the minuses. We would definitely stay here again!

Great Location / Comfortable Stay
Bonefish Barbi’s was a very comfortable stay for us on our third trip to Eleuthera. You can’t beat the location with the beach right outside your door and centrally located to Governer’s Harbor making groceries, gas, and restaurants an easy trip. The beds were comfortable, there were plenty of supplies to enjoy the decks and beach, and the wall of windows provided a panorama view of the ocean. The landscaping provided for a private stay and the outdoor shower was a lot of fun!Check in was easy, orientation with recommendations were very helpful, and the host was very easy to communicate with.

Best Beach (period)
You couldn’t ask for a better beach. Very private. Saw 5 others one day, every other day 2 or none. Brand new grocery store opened in GH (finally). Head and shoulders above anything else on the island. The only slight disappointment was new house built right next door. It was never a problem, just different than our previous stays there. Still - a 10 out of 10

Great location and gorgeous beach
While our stay started out with bad weather, we made the best of things putting together some awesome puzzles she had. When the power went out at night for a bit, we enjoyed the glow in the dark counter tops!! lol. The location of this home is fantastic! We were able to explore points both north and south of the house. We walked the beach below as far as we could and back. Great long walk. Saw many ships out at sea I the shipping lanes right from the comfort of the kitchen table. She had plenty of pans and utencils for cooking and the house is well stocked with beach chairs, coolers, and some snorkel gear. The house was clean and there were plenty of towels for showering which is great for a little longer stay. The a/c units worked great even though we didn't need them often at all. The Island Farm isn't far and we were able to find just about everything we needed there. Fresh bread and sweet rolls on Tuesdays and Fridays had us going back for more! Gas and groceries, fresh fish, and great gift shop Norma's in Governor's Harbour....not to mention a super fun Friday night Fish Fry.

A beautiful view, but a house with issues
The setting is spectacular… sits 40 feet above Atlantic Ocean waves with expansive views to horizon. The beach has only about 6 other houses. In two weeks, we saw fewer than 5 people on the small beach, so quite private. Barbie is a very responsive host. Bullets to truncate a much more extensive review of a house in need of work.- great deal of deferred maintenance. Most window shades broken. Some windows must be propped open, some screens are ripped, handles missing from screens.- There was a broken screen dumped on the front porch when we arrived.- Kitchen: only 2 unmatched glass wine glasses, random drinking glasses, a random tableware and pots and pans and dishes (many chipped). Not ideal for people who cook a lot. -only cleaning supplies-Dawn, dustpan, broom, mop, bucket, no detergent. -condiments: salt, pepper, and some chili flakes. - if you have mobility issues, it’s 40 feet of stairs down to the stair on the beach, and a foot-plus drop to the sand. - 2 of 4 deck recliners broken- high, kitchen counters, but only 1 chair high enough to sit there-all 4 folding, closet doors brokenThe short beach bounded on south by destroyed fortification; on north, quite large, outcropping of jagged, coral. Crossing treacherous with mobility issues. 5 miles of beautiful beach beyond.-Barbie: appreciative of feedback, indicated she would fix some problems for future guests. Of our 60 rentals-this is in the top 5% for beautiful vistas, bottom 5% for upkeep.

Beautiful location
This was a perfect location for our stay. The bedroom layout is great for two couples, or two singles. The bedrooms are at separate ends of house and each has its own full bath. The beds were very comfy! The kitchen is well equipped, but we don't really like to cook on vacay, so opted for late lunch out somewhere every day, with light breakfast and snacks for dinner. There is a nice grill on back deck. The view from front deck is beautiful! We pulled the chaise lounges up from the middle deck and enjoyed sitting outside and watching the incredibly blue ocean. The gorgeous pink sand beach is just down some steps and we only saw someone else on beach once! It was very windy while we were there, so most of our beach-sitting time was spent on the west side of island (sooo many beautiful beaches to choose from!). We really appreciated having fold-up beach chairs and ice chests available to take in car or down to beach with us. Plenty of beach towels available for use. When the sky is clear, the stars are amazing...super bright and they seem so close! We don't get that living in the city. Internet was great. Heard lots of stories about it going down a lot on the island, but we only lost it once for a short time. Governors Harbor area was perfect location for us...very central for exploring north/south. Well-stocked grocery store in town. Barb was great. She responded quickly and answered any questions we had. We would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful view and Home, but…
The views from the home are amazing. It’s proximity to the beach is hard to beat. The summer heat in Eleuthera is brutal and the A/C in the main living area could not keep up. The power went out almost every day, but less than 1 hour each time. However, our local subdivision lost power for almost 24 hours, that left us with no A/C, wifi or ability to call for help. After not sleeping the entire night, I spent half the day locating & talking with the power company before power was restored.
