HomeAway is an old trailer under renovation; not up to snuff
For the rate charged, I feel the HomeAway listing overpromised and underdelivered. This rental charged market hotel rates yet, yet the listing did not indicate that it was an older trailer still undergoing renovations with safety issues. The pictures were carefully curated so as not to show it's age or general condition as fair at best. It looks to be in the midst of painting and updating. Some repairs are needed to make it SAFE and meets building codes.
1) There is no proper fire exit in the bedroom areas. The door in the blue bedroom has no knobs, has no legible signage (even has masking tape labeled Do Not Use. 2) The electrical outlet to right of desk is dangling with wires exposed. 3) The thermostat for the heater was unusable ; the dial was not marked legibly. The box was falling off the wall, held on only by scotch tape. When heater turned on, the air it blew was damp and musty smelling. 4) The gap between the edge of deck and first railing is about 2 feet. This is big enough for a toddler to fall through. 5) Bathroom is super cramped and low flow toilet blocked morning after we arrived. I contacted property manager and they got a plumber on a holiday weekend I am glad he could fix it quickly. But bathroom was smelly and unusable for 1 day of our 3 day stay. Plunger needed.6) We planned to cook dinners in oven and could not use it all weekend. .Pilot light would not ignite. 7) The rental listing said this was a Lakeview property yet trailer does not have a lakeview.
