THE SPACE. Light-filled, open-concept living anchored by a waterfall marble island that begs for long breakfasts and wine-hour charcuterie. Chosen (the host) was great. We'd stay with them anytime. They were totally available, listened, and did their best to help us enjoy our stay. Not sure you could ask for much more from a host.But the house was not great for us. It is a lovely house - updated well and with some great features like the backyard benches & fire pit and the sauna. Also, walking in the wilderness/butterfly park is really beatiful, and the wind through those trees at night is so soothing.However - there were 2 major issues and some smaller miscellaneous inconveniences.The 2 big ones are:- This house is in the flight path of the SB Airport, and jets flyover regularly. Loudly!- There is NO Air Conditioning.The lack of A/C is probably no issue at all in any other season, but it was in the high 80s/low 90s while we were there, and it was unpleasantly hot and stuffy. The listing correctly omits A/C from the list of amenities, but we didn't realize that.The jets are a real problem, though. They flew over as late as 11:30pm and as early as 5am and they are really loud. The airport is only 2 miles away, so they aren't very high above the house. This alone disrupted the peace many times during our stay.Again, the Chosen team sought solutions with us and worked to help - especially with the heat, but there wasn't much to be done about the noise.If we return to Santa Barbara, we'll certainly consider a different Chosen property but we won't be staying at this location again.
