Absolutely amazing experience to stay at an Abbey, you get private access to explore the buildings and grounds out of hours so very quiet once the tourists have left. We had a garden room which was stunning, opened out on to a private terrace with beautiful gardens. A 5 minute walk up to the village where we there were several restaurants to chose from and very pretty. If you have the budget there is a michelin star restaurant in the hotel grounds!

Amazing venue - access to the Abbey and surrounds until Midnight each day meant visiting in splendid isolation. However the hotel has no air conditioning, and the temperatures were consistently above 37 deg celsius during our stay. The staff did their best with fans and asking everyone to close their shutters all day, but it is a challenge and one which is only likely to get worse with global warming.

The room was clean and simple, as a hermitage should be. But extremely comfortable and stylish. The staff were superb, both helpful/attentive and informed about the setting. The restaurants on site are wonderful and the options in the village are plentiful and well run. The highlight above all is the access to the Abbey. Private and at night. Wow.

After visiting the abbey numerous times over the years we finally got to stay, we arrived to find that the room we booked was not available due to the heat but we were being upgraded, not too sure what the upgrade was as the room was a lot smaller than the booked room with less beds, maybe the upgrade was a window that opens, the decor of the room looked dated and worn, the included after hours entry to the abbey was a let down as I was expecting a peaceful walk around at twighlight only to find masses of speakers blasting music each area had their own soundtrack but you could hear the other areas mixing in with it.
