A nice hotel in the very center of Funchal with everything at hand. I was pleasantly surprised by daily room cleaning and towel change, as well as common kitchen where you can get utensils and plates. The building is in the old district so it's not the most modern, which goes for furniture as well. Everything was functional, the beds were comfortable. The sound isolation is not good, but in the night there is quiet period as well as no traffic on the street so no issues with noise. Only bad thing i noticed is extremely dim lights in the room, which made it a bit too dark after sunset.

This wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. Convenient location in the heart of the city and next to the market. The room was very basic. The shower flooded the first time I used it because the curtain covered the hole and the water rose quickly. If you open the windows, there is the smell from a kitchen frying food outside. But it is budget accommodation in the heart of the city.

The room looked nothing like the pictures. The picture of the front of the property is actually on a different street in Funchal. There was a light switch hanging loose from the wall. The TV plug would not reach the socket. The sink and shower blocked up and overflowed as soon as they were used. The flooring was unclean and damaged. The balcony (I use that term very loosely here) overlooked an extractor and vent from the eatery next door which was belching out fumes constantly. There were two dirty and broken chairs outside, which I presume were for residents. We had no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, and the shared kitchen, which was two floors above us, was a complete mess and didn't look like it had been cleaned for a while. We stayed for one night, after having booked a week and that was enough. We were lucky to be able to find somewhere else to stay. When we left the property, we were unable to find any staff to speak to. I messaged the owner, but have yet to hearback. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Steer well clear.

Property is in a great location and clean. However the major problem is reception is only manned a few hours a day so the chances are you will have to call a Portuguese number upon arrival to give you an access code to get into the property. This was very stressful as my phone could not dial an international number so I had to borrow a phone.

Where to begin... The description clearly states 24hr reception. There is no 24 hr reception. You need to call the number listed on the property entrance door to speak to an employee, who will then either attend the property. I had been to the unattended property days earlier, and after no luck, sent several messages advising of my early arrival. I was advised not to worry- someone would be there. No one was there. I was waiting outside for 30minutes- in the heat with my luggage. Luckily another guest exited the building and I was able to gain entry whereby the nice cleaning lady stored my bags. I think it's pretty disgusting that a paying guest needs to wait outside. I had booked a room with a double bed and 2x twin beds and a private bathroom with rainwater shower head. What I received was not as pictured. It was a dated room with 3 X single beds. And there was no rainwater shower head. There was no fan although it was requested at check in it was a 35° day- the room was warm! Normally there are tea/coffee making facilities - this is just a room with beds, a wardrobe with no doors. Nothing else. After 5pm- there are no staff on site. So I could not request a hair dryer. Or follow up on the fan. The building was uninviting, dark and old. It was overpriced. It was worse than any accommodation I had stayed this far- and I have stayed in afew hostels previously. Stay away
