Snow had not been removed in some of the parking areas. First room furnace didnt work. Changed rooms. 2nd room tv did not work. Had to reprogram remote. Remote still did not raise/lower volume or turn tv on or off. Just channel selection. When making reservation it put me in a handicap room without knowledge. Americinn would not put me in a regular room even though they had the extra rooms.

This hotel is poorly managed and maintained. Problems included: 1. Night clerk was on his first shift alone and did not know how to charge me for a pet fee. This delayed my check in by 10 minutes. 2. Fridge in room had a loud mechanical noise, and I had to unplug it ... which meant the TV did not work right. 3. Shower was partially broken - water leaked from hose-handle connection. 4. Bedside lamp did not work. 5. Lawn in front of property where I walked my dog at night had broken glass from a beer bottle and lots of other debris. 6. Hot breakfast was not good. 7. My bathroom floor was spotted and needed a good mopping. Manager apologized for problems with my room but tried to deflect by stating she had been the manager for only 4 days. There have to be better places to stay when traveling US20 in Central Iowa.

I found a foil wrapper (like a peel off lid to an applesauce cup or something similar) in my breakfast. I had scooped cheesy eggs with hash browns out of of the warming tray and found it before I even went to sit down. I told the staff person who was stocking the breakfast area and she just shrugged her shoulders and said I scooped the tray too hard and it was foil that peeled off in my food. (I hadn’t scooped too hard, the spoon didn’t even touch the bottom or sides of the warmer. I ended up throwing it all away and not even eating breakfast. The room had a used bar of soap in it. And there never was a worker at the front desk for me to tell about the issue with the food at breakfast. Would not recommend this place.
