The Grand Hotel Excelsior is a lovely property with a charming, old–style atmosphere, even though it was only completed in 2007. The classic aesthetic gives it a warm, elegant feel. My room was very spacious, and the view was genuinely beautiful — definitely a highlight of the stay. I also loved the spa; it was relaxing, well-kept, and a great addition to the overall experience. The convenient beach access is another major plus, making it easy to enjoy without any hassle. While keeping the old charm, some amenities, however, feel a bit outdated. The automatic room lights, elevator security system, and bath amenities could use a more modern, functional refresh to match today’s standards. Still, the overall comfort, character, and excellent location make this hotel a very enjoyable place to stay. With a little updating, it could easily elevate its already pleasant experience.

I had a wonderful room with a huge and spacious terrace facing the Grand Harbour. Room was clean and was well stocked with amenities. Breakfast was a wonderful buffet spread with views of the harbour. Staff were very helpful and polite. Location was great - just 10 minutes walk to the old town of Valletta.

We had a very brief stay as we ended a cruise and were flying home very early the day after. I can only comment on the helpfulness of the staff (excellent) and dinner in the Admiral’s Landing (very good). It is in a great location and very convenient to Valletta with lots to explore there.

It is a great place in great location however the hotel is tired especially for a very expensive terrace room. It is stuck in a time warp and worn out - bed, chairs carpets. The staff in the bars were very slow and poor, particularly at the poolside bar. The addition of a shuttle bus up the hill is great unless 8 Americans want to pile in as well and were abbusive to us and the driver. For 400 euros a night I also expected breakfast!!

Lovely stay in Valletta

Lovely hotel, large comfortable room. Great breakfast. Service very slow in pool area but apart from that it was a great stay. Very convenient for Valletta town which is fabulous and the shuttle bus was a lovely bonus. Hope to return.
