The Neighborhood:
Fall River Road has access to Rocky Mountain National Park's north entrance and is lined on each side of the street with cabins and resorts. Even so, this area is in the remote Rocky Mountains and feels very secluded. We often have wild animals such as bear and elk on our property.

The roads in Amberwood are paved and may be slick when it is icy or snowy. We do our best to keep them clear for you!
Other Things to Note:
We are in the wilderness of Colorado. There are bears, elk, deer, sheep and numerous other wild animals that also call the mountains home. Respect their space and do not keep any trash or food outside unattended. We have an animal proof dumpster on our property for any trash.
Do not feed the wildlife! It is illegal to feed any wildlife in Colorado and you could get a fine. This includes deer, elk, birds, bears and rodents! Thank you!

Room was clean, smelled great, everything was in working condition, the host was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed for the stay.
Cabin was a clean older cabin. But there was only four Keurig pods for the both of us for three mornings. They said in the description if you needed more you would have to bring your own. CHEAP! I told the host our smoke alarm needed a new battery as the test button was not working. He answered with, “ why, do you think the cabin is going to burn down?” I wish I would’ve thought to reply, “it doesn’t matter as it’s the law to have working smoke alarms”. He immediately fetched a new 9volt from the office. On the second morning it was still cold at 61 degrees and the thermostat was flashing “replace batteries”. About 9:00 am I called and left a message explaining such. Early afternoon the hostess tried to walk by without even greeting me (I was right in front on the deck). After she was by I asked her if they had got my message. She said yes but they were busy with a chamber meeting at their restaurant/tavern and he would bring new batteries. About five o’clock he walked up to the deck with the batteries, handed them to me and said he had eight cabins to maintain ya know. Bad attitude - won’t stay there again or recommend it.
A very convenient place to stay if you're going into Rocky Mountain National Park (I think 1-2 miles from the Fall River Entrance). Mountain views; not on the river. Air conditioning was a huge blessing, since the temps were in the upper 90's while we were there. The code for the door lock never did work, but there was a key in a box next to the door that worked just fine. The smoke detector by the door was flashing red during our stay- need to change batteries? Didn't like that the only sink was the kitchenette sink. Overall I think it was overpriced; but we were comfortable and did enjoy our stay.
