A 5 star stay should focus on the customers experience and check in and breakfast is where Powerscourt let itself down. We arrived at check in at 2pm and knew that the room might not be ready but we had spa treatments booked for 2:30. When we arrived at the desk the lady proceeded to fiddle with files and tidy up rather than start to check us in. She then said she would leave the keys at the spa reception so we could go straight to the room after as it would be ready by then. The keys were not at the spa reception when we asked and then at reception she told us that they were down there and almost expected us to go back down and get them- it was only when a manager stepped in and said to just issue two new key cards that she did!
Breakfast is also €26 per person which is fine but then to have a supplement on top for certain items is just greed in my opinion and not in line with other 5 star hotels that we have stayed in where there focus at breakfast is on the customer having the best experience possible and provide the breakfast they want.
Aside from those two points the hotel is beautiful and has lovely spacious and clean rooms
