Pigstugan is located just a short walk from the Klarälven, one of Sweden’s longest rivers. The surrounding area offers vast forests, water, rolling hills and plenty of peace and space. It is a wonderful place for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle and experience authentic Sweden.
Whether you come for an active holiday, fishing and kayaking, long walks through the forests, the beautiful autumn colours or a winter holiday in the snow, Pigstugan is a great base all year round.
The holiday home
Pigstugan accommodates up to 5 guests and has two bedrooms. The warm wooden interior and typical Scandinavian atmosphere give the house a cosy and welcoming feel.
Unlike our other holiday home, Drängstugan, pets are welcome at Pigstugan. You may bring up to 2 pets, making Pigstugan an excellent choice for a holiday in Sweden with your dog.
On cooler evenings, the wood-burning stove provides extra warmth and atmosphere. An initial supply of firewood is provided. If you need more during your stay, additional firewood is available from us for a small fee.
Kitchen and dining area
The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing your own meals during your holiday.
Facilities include a 4-burner hob, oven, refrigerator, separate freezer, coffee maker, kettle and toaster. Crockery, cutlery, glasses, pots, pans and other basic kitchen essentials are also provided.
There is a cosy dining area where you can enjoy breakfast and dinner together or relax after an active day.
Bathroom and other facilities
The bathroom has a shower, toilet and washbasin. A hairdryer, drying rack and washing machine are also available.
Wi-Fi and water are included, and parking is available on the property.
For electric vehicles, a 7 kW charging point is available. Charging is billed separately at 7 SEK per kWh based on actual consumption.
Outside, Pigstugan has a terrace where you can enjoy the peace and views of the green surroundings and forest.
Free use of the clubhouse
Guests staying at Pigstugan can use our shared clubhouse free of charge.
Especially on a rainy day or a dark winter evening, it provides a cosy additional space for both adults and children.
The clubhouse includes table football, Dutch shuffleboard, darts, board and family games, a PlayStation 4 with various games, a DVD/CD player and two computers with internet access.
The clubhouse also has air conditioning and a wood-burning stove, making it comfortable to use in both summer and winter.
There is also a shared fire pit on the property.
Autumn in Värmland
Autumn is a beautiful time to discover Värmland. The forests surrounding Pigstugan turn into a colourful landscape of red, yellow, orange and gold.
It is a wonderful season for hiking, cycling, nature photography and mushroom picking. The peace and quiet in the forests and along the Klarälven make this time of year particularly special.
With a little luck, you may also encounter typical Swedish wildlife such as moose, roe deer and beavers.
Winter holidays in Sweden
When the snow arrives, the area surrounding Pigstugan transforms into a beautiful Swedish winter landscape.
Various winter activities are within reach from Pigstugan. One of the region’s main winter destinations is Branäs, a popular ski area for families and winter sports enthusiasts of different ability levels. It offers ski slopes, a gondola and activities including evening skiing.
Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can visit Långberget, which offers around 63 kilometres of cross-country ski trails.
In northern Värmland, there are also opportunities for snowshoeing, husky tours and snowmobile tours.
On clear, dark nights, there is even a chance of seeing the Northern Lights. This can never be guaranteed, but when they appear above the winter landscape, it is an unforgettable experience.
After a day in the snow, it is wonderful to return to Pigstugan and light the wood-burning stove.
Klarälven, forests and Swedish nature
The Klarälven is an important part of the landscape around Norra Loffstrand Novilla. The river winds through Värmland, surrounded by forests, nature and small villages.
The area is ideal for hiking, cycling and mountain biking. You can choose from peaceful routes through the forests and along the water or longer trips through the rolling landscape.
Wildlife is a natural part of the surroundings. The region is home to moose, roe deer, foxes, beavers and many species of birds.
For nature lovers and photographers, there is something to discover in every season.
Fishing
Värmland is also an attractive destination for fishing enthusiasts. The rivers and lakes in the area are home to various fish species, including pike, perch and trout.
The Klarälven and the many surrounding lakes make it easy to combine a stay at Pigstugan with fishing and other activities on and around the water.
Kayaking on the Klarälven
Would you like to experience the area from the water? We have 2 kayaks available for hire, each suitable for up to 3 adults.
You can choose between a trip of approximately 2 hours or a longer trip of around 3.5 hours.
The price is €25 per kayak, including transfer to the starting point. From there, you paddle along the Klarälven back towards Norra Loffstrand Novilla.
It is a wonderful way to experience the river, forests and surrounding nature from a completely different perspective.
Boating and fishing with our Whaly boat
We also have a Whaly boat, available with a captain on request.
You can choose a relaxing boat trip or a fishing trip lasting one or several hours. During fishing trips, modern fishfinders and GPS can be used to locate interesting fishing spots.
Price on request. Options depend on factors such as the season and weather conditions.
Brattfallet
A beautiful destination for a day trip is Brattfallet, an impressive waterfall and gorge in Värmland.
You can follow various walking trails and enjoy the flowing water, rock formations and surrounding forest. Brattfallet is particularly photogenic in summer, autumn and winter.
