Nice hotel

Nice hotel, walkable distance from tourist attractions like Edinburgh castle. Good breakfast, friendly staff and spacious clean room. Newly renovated rooms and bathrooms in the great Victorian terrace. Of course great water pressure too! Internet works only in the communal area, no lift if you carry big suitcase and only one key per room. And remember, its like upmarket guest house, so no room service or cleaning every day.

Nice setting but sub-par staff

The room was a very comfortable night sleep but the shower screen was assembled incorrectly, not broken just assembled wrong, which is strange. The breakfast was nice but the owner told me to hurry up and leave my table directly after my plate was cleared even though I was still yet to finish my coffee. I'd only been there about 20 minutes and he seemed to ask me because I was using my phone as I was alone. I found this very rude indeed and seeming it was my first interaction with staff after check in it didn't leave a very good impression!

Nice facility, terrible staff

Good news - hotel is very modern and clean, bed was comfortable, breakfast was great. Bad - one senior staff member was just shockingly bad. Examples: 1. My flight arrived late at night. I had rung and told them but a stuff up at their end meant it was not recorded. When I landed in Edinburgh I had a threatening phone call saying they were about to close and I would need to find an alternative hotel. When I rang and said I had just landed and would be half an hour, they said: "we will wait 30 minutes but no more". 2. Rude attitude from same staff member at breakfast. 3. Same staff member complained about me asking to store my bag for the day. He suggested I take it to left luggage at the station instead. Other staff were perfectly pleasant. This one older chap was rude and inconsiderate. He is in he wrong industry. And for this reason I cannot recommend this hotel.

Pros: Many aspects are enjoyable. A bit overpriced but it was at a peak time. Parking difficult!
Cons: Bed was a bit uncomfortable. Ensuite within room was OK but made the room humid. Breakfast needs to be improved. Cooked aspects were of poor quality.
Location: Was close to everything. Clan walk to all attractions.
An interesting lace that's was booked late esp during the Fringe festival which we were able to enjoy. Room and hotel was comfortable and walk to all facilities.
