Fun, funky blast from the past

Love love love this little motel. It's quirky, fun, clean, quiet. This remodel of an old-fashioned motel is everything the big chains are not--friendly and unique. From the disco balls to the pool room to the fun in-room decor, the attention to detail is superb. This is an old building, so there are a few signs of wear in a previous life. It can take a few minutes for the hot water to arrive. But if you like the feel of supporting a charming local business, then Hotel Royal Oak is for you.

Good location for my purposes; quiet but “breakfast” was not good; and n appealing muffins, donuts and bagels; only coffee and creamer was powdered- ugh not what you want to wake up and have. If advertising b’fast it should be a bit more robust - maybe add yogurt and real milk options. Also no tea, hot water.

I always love staying at the HRO! They've done a marvelous job renovating and updating the property. Each time I come back (continental breakfast and a community room with a pool table this time!), I like to see the progress they've made. The staff are so friendly and helpful.

It's a MOTEL, not a hotel. Maids did not speak english, so there was some confusion about what / when things were needed. There were some bugs (maybe silverfish?) in the tiny bathroom. Window air conditioner had a hard time cooling when it was near 100 outside. Desk staff were very accommodating & friendly. Downtown location was convenient & walkable to amenities.

My boyfriend and I drove in for a live show at the music theatre and we stayed at Hotel Royal Oak. The vibes were amazing, staff was very very nice, rooms were clean & very pretty, and importantly they had so many fun seating areas and things to do!! Cannot recommend this hotel enough.. we will be back again. 😊
