Breakfast issue

I stop here very often and fair play its had a brush up and polish in the past year or so, friendly staff to greet you. The only issue i have is breakfast. I rarely fancy a full english nor am i a lover of continental. Just juice and toast does me but they dont do that. You have to pay for a continental £8.99 as there is no lower price button on the till. Most annoying.

Staff were very polite, kind and accommodating. The rooms were surprisingly quiet (even with windows open), when considering how close to the train station etc the hotel is!

Newly refurbished comfortable rooms

We atayed for 5 nights in a King room that had a sofa, fridge and TV. The room was obviously fairly recently refurbished and was pretty clean. It was great for us as we had plenty of space in the room. Bed was comfortable. It’s in a central location, 10 minute walk to shopping centre and there are a few nearby pubs. There was parking at the back but be aware you have to pay for this. We had a really great trip and it was very affordable.

I have previously stayed at this hotel and found it to be reasonably good value, on this occasion all seemed okay after key card hand over. When reaching the room doors I found that I was unfamiliar with how it worked but soon realised that you have to swipe the card then press a button to reveal keyboard to unlock door and gain entry. Having gained entry and just about to settle we found that my wife and myself were in the wrong room. I think it was the man on reception gave us the wrong key as the one we had would not open the room we had been allocated.

Not great but not bad either.

Overall I’d give it a 5/10. When I first arrived there was weird smell to the room, my bed sheets had stains and the pillows. Also the shower curtain was dirty. Felt as if they just re-made the bed after someone left. I complained and they changed my room. The second rooms bed sheets were clean but I wasn’t fully satisfied. Overall I’d give it a 5/10 and it’s more like 2 star hotel.

Room was too hot even with fans on no ventilation even though you couldn’t close the window lift not working we’re on 3rd floor and fire alarms going off at 1am 😡

Had to knock on the front door and press the buzzer for quite some time before being let in at about midnight. When I got to my room it was like a sauna, way too hot!
