About this property
Starview Lodge: Quiet Mountain Home Bordering State Forest
Visiting Starview Lodge makes you feel a world away from the bustle of the city, despite being only 2 hours from San Francisco. Situated on Cobb Mountain – the tallest of the Mayacamas range above Calistoga - you will be treated to the scent of a dense forest, spectacular mountain views, and the best stargazing!
The lodge has three well-appointed bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a great room for entertaining. The master bedroom has a California King memory foam bed, while the second bedroom has a Queen memory foam bed and its own en-suite bathroom. The third bedroom has two bunk beds for a total of 4 twin beds, all with memory foam mattresses. All bedrooms are outfitted with premium linens and comforters.
The open great room combines kitchen, dining room and living room, all view spectacular views of the surrounding forest and Cobb Mountain. The lodge backs up to Boggs State Forest, and sits in a small clearing in the trees. There is a clear view of the night sky - it's a wonderful place to watch a meteor shower!
In the winter months, curl up by the wood-burning fireplace and sprawl on the couch to read a great book. You might also consider watching your favorite Netflix movie on the 50” HDTV.
In the summer, take advantage of the expansive deck with large gas grill, adirondack chairs, gas fire pit and outdoor dining table. Read a book while listening to the birds and deer rummage for food, or invite some friends and have an outdoor feast.
Once you have settled into the relaxed mountain atmosphere, you can leave the car behind and walk to many of the great things Cobb has to offer, including: • Boggs State Forest – hiking, mountain biking (1/4 mile, 5 minutes) • Mountain Meadow Golf Course (5 minutes) • Hardester’s Grocery (10 minutes) • Monterrey Mexican Grill (5 minutes) • Mountain High Coffee (10 minutes) • Cobb Mountain Pizza (10 Minutes)
You can also take a scenic drive through the mountains and discover other great nearby destinations, including: • Pine Grove Family Resort – 2 swimming pools and a café (3 minutes) • Boggs Lake Preserve - an ancient volcanic “lake” with guided nature walk (15 minutes) • Loch Lomond Market & Deli – Food, drinks (10 minutes) • Mother Loving In the Oven Bakery (10 Minutes) • Harbin Hot Springs (10 minutes)
Your pet(s) are always welcome at Starview Lodge. There is a fully fenced deck and separate dog run in the side yard for your best friends to enjoy, and a state forest with thousands of acres to play is right outside the back door!
The cabin is equipped with cable TV, high-speed Internet with WiFi, HDTV, and central heat and central air conditioning. If you must work while you are there, rest assured the internet is high speed (100mbps+) and there is a small desk, chair and monitor for you to use.
Where is Cobb Mountain? It is less than an hour from Sonoma, Mendocino and Napa counties. It is two hours from Sacramento / central valley, and two hours from the San Francisco Bay Area. The town of Cobb is above 2600’ and receives several periods of light snow during the winter! And because it is inland and sheltered from the coastal fog, it reaches wonderful but comfortable 80s/90s temperatures in the summer. It’s a perfect escape any time of the year.
Sometimes the name "lodge" confuses people! This is in fact a standalone single family home. We just call it a "lodge" because it's a rustic but comfortable home in the mountains.
NOTE on home layout: This is a two story home and is not wheelchair friendly. From the top of the driveway there are 12 exterior stairs up to the main level and entry. The main level has the kitchen, dining and living rooms, primary California king bedroom and full bath. Downstairs are two bedrooms and one bath. Interior access between floors is via a metal spiral staircase. There are two downstairs exterior doors that open to the driveway (two steps down).

Worked out great.
Very accommodating. We used the property to house some workers while doing a tempos project in the area. It was great having a homey place to come to after work. Property owner was very responsive to all our communications.

Relaxing Getaway
Our family loved our stay here, relaxing on the deck, and watching all of the wildlife. It felt very remote, in spite of only being a short drive to town and conveniences. We would definitely stay here again!

Nestled in the Woods
A beautiful & peaceful place! View is great. Saw some deer & wild turkeys roaming around. Super-quiet too. Did some grilling-but had to change out propane tanks couple of times, as they were low & had a time using the starter button. But did manually.
Would certainly recommend this lovely place!

Friends gathering
We enjoyed our stay on Cobb Mt. We were visiting to attend a friends gathering at a house close by. We did have some issues with the house, but the owner was very responsive and understanding. The house is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood on Cobb Mt. The kitchen definitely needs some upgrading, but the living area was comfortable. We spent a fair amount of time on the outdoor deck.

NICE MTN CABIN
It's a pleasant mountain cabin. Could use some modernization, especially in the kitchen. No dishwasher (not a surprise) and cupboards don't close, drawers fall out, etc. The driveway is very steep and rugged, but we had a Suburban and it did fine.

Great Place for Get-Away
Our family, six adults, stayed for two nights, it was a very good experience.
The house conveniently sits on a quiet street, just a few minutes from grocery store, restaurants. You can reach the hiking trails from the back yard, very nice.
The place is very clean, owner was very responsive, always available when needed.
We really enjoyed out staying!

Peaceful Getaway
Situated right next to a forest area, had lots of deer and even a wild turkey right outside our window. Beautiful fall foliage and crisp clean air. The only thing to be mindful of is a steep driveway for parking. Near Clear Lake and state park and fun winding country roads.

quiet & relaxing
Our group had a great stay at this mountain home. The beds were very comfortable, the deck was large and had a great view and the tasteful living room was ample to sit around and visit. On top of it all, the price was reasonable, something increasingly rare these days. I hope to be back again, for the great bed and the tranquility.

Perfect weekend
Great place in a wonderfully quiet setting. Really feels like home with a big deck including a gas fire pit, BBQ, great seating and a hammock. Kitchen includes coffee machine and espresso machine and all other appliances. We even found first aid stuff in the bathroom when we had a little mishap. Also, super kid friendly with lots of toys in a toy chest and books. We were in town to celebrate 2 family birthdays and this was the perfect place for entertaining and activities for all ages.

Perfect Getaway in the Pines
We had such a wonderful stay in this adorable mountain cabin. It was my family of 5, mother-in-law and parents, and we all fit so comfortably. It’s fantastic that we could all stay downstairs and my parents had the upstairs bedroom, which gave them privacy and a little peace. The kids loved the bunk beds! We all enjoyed the deck so much. We sat by the firepit sipping wine at night after a day spent with family. The wild life was also fantastic with the wild turkeys and deer. Our kids loved it. The store and yummy pizza place are very close by. We can’t wait to return for another visit. My brother lives in the area, so we will definitely be back!

Winter get away
The house was as described., very nice living/kitchen/dining room.. When we arrived there was about 18” of snow on the deck and in the driveway but couldn’t find a shovel so borrowed one from the neighbor. Enjoyed the house and fireplace through a very cold and rainy weekend. The drive up is a bit motion sickness stimulating though. All in all I recommend it. The deck would be great in better weather. Liked to watch the deer wandering about.

Cozy cabin in the woods
Enjoyed my stay with one friend. Quiet, cozy cabin. It snowed a bunch while we were there which lended to the coziness factor. The upstairs, open space, is great and, if the weather was warmer, we'd have the use of an incredibly spacious deck area. The upstairs also has the master bedroom (with a very comfy bed) and master bath (looks renovated/newer). Kitchen is well stocked with equipment and some pantry left overs (helpful). Saw a few mice droppings in the lower cabinets and it's probably hard to keep them at bay, but perhaps a more regular, and deeper, cleaning of those areas would be helpful? Very cozy and warm upstairs. To get downstairs to the other two bedrooms, you go down a metal, winding staircase. Keep this in mind for elderly or those having other types of walking issues. Wasn't a problem for us. Very cold downstairs (heat rises), so if you're there in colder months, turn on the heat right away to get it comfy. Slept well and comfortably in queen room. Quiet and dark the way I like. Bathroom could benefit from a refresh and deep cleaning. Towels could benefit from a recycle and re-new. Just a few suggestions. Great value for a cozy, charming, quiet cabin in the woods.

Great spot for a weekend away
This spot in Cobb was so quiet and felt relaxingly remote, but is just 2 hours from Oakland. The house is a simple and comfortable 2-floor lodge perched on a hill. The deck looks back over the road and neighborhood toward the mountain. This spot is close to great day hiking and a convenient well-stocked grocery store. The bedding is very comfortable and clean. The deck is gorgeous and if it wasn’t so cold, we’d have been out there for most of our stay.
The kitchen was not quite as advertised but is well-stocked and had everything we needed so no complaints. There is no dishwasher. BYO shampoo & soap. The towels are in need of replacing—they’re worn thin and had holes.
A great spot and a restful retreat.

Overall peaceful stay in middle of forest
The place is spacious as described, has all basic amenities. Cabin is peaceful, it’s close to a nearby trail. Saw deers in the area which was a plus!👍Only comment is to improve and organize the kitchen area. 2 drawers-by the coffee and countertop area is broken, and 1 cabinet doesn’t close properly. Supplies were all over the place, had to open so many drawers just to find specific cookware. It just looks messy, just need to organize the kitchen drawers/cabinets.
I’ve also asked if it has basic supply like cooking oil, sugar etc. is included and they have all those except the olive oil I used to cook breakfast was almost used up. Bought a new bottle for myself instead. Lastly, there were many items left in fridge, I thought it should be thrown out if previous renter left them.

Nappa
We came to celebrate our anniversary. We drove each day to Nappa and one day to the Red Woods. It was great because the cabin was between the two. We only had a few small issues. A few 8 legged friends found us in the down stairs bedroom. The driveway is very steep and slightly slippery due to the pine needles...it made parking an adventure every day. The neighbor dogs had a bark off one night that luckily ended before midnight. The bathtub/shower on the main floor was tricky to enter and exit due to the depth of the tub. The lights in the refrigerator were like strobe lights.. or similar to what happens on Stranger Things ;) Otherwise The home is very nice and we enjoyed the kitchen and the fireplace every night!
