The apartment had been broken into by squatters. The locks had been drilled out of the doors. The sheets on the bed were ruffled and clearly indicated that someone had been sleeping there. There was laundry falling out of the in-unit dryer, and after I left I got a call from the property manager stating that the smoke detector had gone off in what would have been my unit. I also have reason to be confident that this location is dangerous. It is a mostly abandoned part of the city, where one local resident told me "gunshots can be heard all the time". When you do see the occasional person passing by, they stare at you as if you're the first human being they've ever seen, and as of today, Expedia is still refusing to give me my money back. Stay away at all costs.
