Only ok and a bit disappointing. Being completely honest I expected more from this hotel, as soon as we arrived I felt disappointed and it unfortunately continued. The car park is definitely not big enough, we got the last space and driving around the outdoor area seemed sketchy, particularly the abandoned looking buildings to the side. Check in took an age, the priority seems to be trying to up sell on meals. Rreception, lobby and bar areas were all lovely and we felt hopeful again about our room. Once in the room on first look it seemed great but after a few minutes we realised it was a little dated, there weren't enough towels for the 3 of us and it wasn't as clean as we'd expect. We were with our 1 year old daughter and I wasn't happy enough to let her sit on the floor. Amenities in the room great - hairdryer, iron, ironing board, tea & coffee making facilities. Bed was clean and comfy, a great night's sleep. The food in the restaurant was nice, both in the evening and then again for breakfast, definitely the best bit about the hotel, they were also more than accommodating of my daughter's severe milk allergy and nothing was too much trouble. Please note though the bar and restaurant are cashless, this isn't stated anywhere and one of the waiters even said he'd get in trouble for accepting it. Can't comment on the spa facilities as we didn't have time but the extra charge for the pool was bad in my opinion. I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return

The hotel entrance was lovely, it wasn’t until u went to the room an they where very dated could do with a re-vamp with most uncomfortable beds ever like you was sleeping on a board so had the worse nights sleep. Not much to do in the area not many places to dine out.

Where do I begin. First impressions prior arrival upon booking. Once booked. You will get an automatic message once payments been taken to let you know that there is a £50 deposit also which is not mentioned prior. Upon arrival, very modern beautiful enterance. However sharp changed.. upon check in and taking a holding deposit. We had to wait roughly 10minutes for the lovely polite receptionist to check the room. The lack of organisation or systems to ensure rooms are tidy seem lacking. We then walked to our rooms and the condition of the hotel and the lick of paint really shows the cracks. Also before I forget. A £5 fee per person to use to pool is not mentioned. Then the room itself. Well considering the tv in the next room was clearly on the bedbpard wall. We could hear everything. No sound cancelling. Every word of the tv and it wasnt blaring. No fan and the room was extremely hot. Saying that. Room bedding was white and clean. Pillows okay however had silk protectors showing inside that didnt look that clean. When reading our room key slip. Misspellings of weekdays to say weed days etc and many other slight things that have been over seen on literature and throughout this hotel.

Not as good as it looks on the website

The dinner service on Saturday was terrible. Our food took an hour to arrive at the table and that too after multiple chases. Drinks took about 45 mins to arrive at the table. The food wasnt seasoned and flavour to what we ordered. On the contrary, the dinner was good on Friday. So very inconsistent service. The housekeeping did not clean the room and when we reported at the reception, they said that "the hotel was fully booked so maybe a few rooms werent cleaned". There were some construction works ongoing which caused the access from inside the hotel to the swimming pool blocked. So, had to walk around the back of the property.

Nice but improvements needed

At the check in desk there was no record of our reservation so we had to wait about 30 minutes until it was sorted out. Check in staff were friendly but everything seemed very slow. We’d booked a suite which we didn’t realise was one of the cottages/lodges rather than the main hotel which was a bit disappointing. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable but despite it being a hot day, the room/cottage was absolutely freezing so remember to put the heating on! Restaurant was great, really lovely food and excellent service. Pool are looks a bit tired and the spa isn’t finished yet despite us being told it was done

I woke at 2am to find water pouring through the light fitting in the room. Such a huge fire risk. I had to walk down to reception and speak to night staff. Then back to room to Show problem, then carry my things back downstairs to new room. The room was noisy with passing staff so I did not sleep again. Reception were not willing to help despite calling them twice. Complaint and request for Health & Safety executive to check all tons will now follow. Why is there such dreadful customer service in this hotel.

Lovely staff. I got a late check out for£25 extra which was amazing after a night out. The hotel is really lovely. By a gorgeous lake. Nothing was too much for the staff. I was given an extra blanket on request. I would not hesitate to recommended this hotel with lovely country pubs a walk or uber away. Thankyou. Amelia Jones
