Do Not Stay at Aloft Bolingbrook
Did not honor room type I booked and paid for. Was told that’s the danger of booking through a third party. Front desk agent was a condescending corporate robot that only spoke using tired corporate talking points. Offered nothing to address the situation. Had to spend 45 minutes with hotels.com customer service to get a partial refund of nearly $100 for the lesser room category I was given. Did not sleep at all. It was windy and the hotel flagpoles were outside my window and made loud clanging noises. Did not want to go back down to front desk and ask for a room change because I just did not want to deal with the agent. My final little surprise were the ants that were crawling all over the desk when I turned the lights on in the morning. I’m in hotels roughly 200 nights out of the year. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had in the last year. I would have to think king and hard before ever booking a stay at another aloft or Marriott property. A root canal would be more pleasant than their customer service.
