Beautiful sanctuary nestled in heart of Chiang Mai

Beautiful hotel! We arrived in Chiang Mai on the sleeper train at around 7:30am and our checkin was not until 2pm but the hotel were very welcoming and allowed us to store our bags, get breakfast and change our clothes so we could head out for the day until our room was ready. When we did check in staff helped to carry my bags to our room (there is no lift and we were on third floor). Staff also offered to support with booking of tours and we asked for some recommendations on the best white water rafting excursion as there were a few options, they didn’t know which was best but helped us call around providers and were very jovial and helpful. The room overlooking the pool is spectacular, so beautiful, comfortable and we were tempted to extend our stay because we loved the hotel so much. Breakfast was standard and again staff very helpful and attentive. The bed was really comfortable to sleep in and aircon worked great which was a relief as Chiang Mai was especially hot during our stay. Location of the hotel is ideal, it’s adjacent to the main walking street but is tucked away and so serene and tranquil. Definitely include a Sunday evening in your stay if possible to enjoy Chiang Mai’s Sunday Night market. You turn out of the hotel and walk two minutes down the road and find sprawling foods, clothes and goods market that goes on street after street. Viangluang Resort really made our trip to Chiang Mai so special and we would definitely recommend.

The location is great. The restaurants nearby were terrific. The staff were very helpful. The pool at night was great to cool down and relax. There is a lot of greenery at the hotel that makes it special. The breakfast was huge and very tasty. Just the right amount of old and new.

I stayed at 7 different hotels on my Thailand trip, and I can say that this was one of my favorite hotels. It’s absolutely gorgeous with lovely amenities and without being a massive size hotel. The staff is helpful. The breakfast was delicious with Thai and western options. The pool sitting area is small, but not a big deal. The pool area is beautiful with lush landscape. But most importantly, my room was gorgeous and extremely clean. The bed is very comfortable, and I loved that the bathroom had both a tub and a separate shower. The decor is just lovely. I enjoyed sitting out on my balcony hearing the birds and viewing stars at night. The location is in old town and is a quick walk to the main roads with plenty of food and massage options. I can’t wait to go back.

We spent 3 nights here and absolutely loved it. Small boutique hotel. The rooms & amenities were amazing. We were on the second floor over looking the pool. The location was awesome. Sunday night the walking street market is at the end of the street. Lots of food & restaurant choices close by. The staff at the hotel were incredible and could not do enough for you. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re going to Chiang Mai.

Such a pleasant boutique hotel. Carved wooden details and stained glass. No elevator, but they do have rooms on the ground floor. Comfortable large bed, nice furniture, lots of lighting, bathroom tub and shower. There's a beautiful small pool in the open central courtyard, but I found it too cold. Check-in was easy - staff had good English skills. The included buffet breakfast caters to mostly Asian tastes, with savory rice and noodle dishes, but there were fried eggs and sausage, a salad bar, eggs made to order, and fresh cut fruit. The hotel stands just a block away from a temple with 13th century ruins, and a night market, and walking is easy amongst the thicket of surrounding narrow alleys full of crowds and light all times of day. It's hard to get lost because you eventually hit the perimeter square canal around the old city. Every second business is either a massage parlor or a marijuana dispensary, and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

The hotel was nicely decorated and the staff were nice enough. The location was great. Only problems were that when we checked in there were around 10 mosquitos in our room, a door must have been left open. Also our room was stupidly loud so we were woken up early every morning. The beds are very loud and maybe the walls not sound proof. We complained to the staff on reception about the family in the room next to us whose children screamed from about 7am but we never had our room moved and they never got back to us, was very frustrating as felt like we couldn’t get a full rest on any of the nights.
