A trip to Pattaya is all about entertainment and activity. The beachfront can keep you busy for long or as little as you like! And if you do try out the thrilling water sports such as jet-skiing, remember to approach it with caution, as damage claim scams are known to take place. Like other places in Thailand however, shopping can quickly fill your days here, with plenty of local venues like Thepprasit Market with its cheap books, and the odd Made In Thailand Night Bazaar, which opens in the morning. The retail power of the city really took a leap when Central Festival Pattaya Beach opened its doors, giving the area its first modern mall right here on Pattaya Beach Road. It shouldn’t be confused with the older Central Festival Center though, a separate business on Second Road that is more of a large, but very useful, supermarket. There is of course the opportunity to relax in any one of the area’s many spas, or you could get out of town for a little while to visit Pattaya Kart Speedway to the south or play a round of golf at the course of your choice.
Funnily enough, Pattaya’s risqué side delivers an opportunity for wholesome entertainment at Tiffany’s Show, a family friendly ladyboy cabaret that also happens to have the city’s only indoor shooting range in the basement – you aren’t likely to have a night out like this again! One could even say that Pattaya’s reputation for raunchiness is somewhat undeserved. That aspect is definitely there, but there is no difficulty in enjoying a normal night out on the town. The small streets (soi) running off Beach Road transform from being dead during daylight hours to thriving by night. Check out Pattayaland and Soi 7 and Soi 8 for the signature Pattaya bar scene.
Aside from New Year celebrations, festive spirits run high during April when Thailand’s water celebration, Songkran, and the floats, exhibits and performances of Pattaya Festival take over the streets.
So wot are you waiting for? Forget what you’ve heard about this infamous Thailand destination, grab a flight to Bangkok, pick your Central Pattaya accommodation and let the journey begin!
