If you prefer a more lively experience, the historical and cultural centres of Lucca, Florence and Pisa are nearby. Lucca with its medieval walls is less than 30mins drive. Home to Puccini, the city hosts many events, including opera, the summer music festival and the world comic fair. Florence and Pisa have world renowned historical and cultural attractions that are within an hours drive, or leave the car at the local train station and explore by foot. If you want to spend a day by the sea, the resorts of Viareggio and Forte di Marmi are less than an hour away, the Cinque Terre and Portofino are just a bit further up the coast.
