Our Madeira Holiday

We had an absolutely fabulous time. Our hosts were generous and offered great hospitality. We would not hesitate to recommend the Quinta and look forward to returning.

Very disappointing; mislead by website and photos

My wife and I booked the 2-bedroom apartment, which we assumed to be in the Quinta and furnished elegantly. Had we known the apt. was in another building, 70 steps down the hillside we wouldn't have booked it. Photos very misleading. The apt. was also on 2 storeys; very basic, spartan, and cold. We were given an extra convector heater, but it was insufficient. We ended up buying a fan heater. However, the inconvenience of having to climb 70 steps to go up and down to breakfast/car etc. proved too much and in the end we left. No pegs or hooks to hang anything; no towel rail; basic utensils in kitchenette, fridge had no ice compartment; no dressing table or mirror in bedroom; no wardrobe or drawers (just hangers and shelves in a recessed area); soul-less, no atmosphere that we had expected from a Quinta. Not even a mat to wipe your feet. Toiletries just liquid soap. No hot water on 2 mornings. Breakfast in an external room, not accessible from the Quinta either. No views, port-hole windows. Woodchip walls made it feel like a rabbit hutch. Basic breakfast. Everyone eating in their jackets! Advice on room-info. said not to open windows at night because of mosquitos, but we were still bitten (even in cold weather). Owner agreed the apt. was purpose built for families; not suitable for couples seeking elegance. Blamed website for inaccuracies. Nice man, very fair in charging us less for the time we spent there. (wife not so agreeable when we left!) Found somewhere better.

Want to stay in a home away from home?

Having me and my friends being welcomed to their lovely home from the start, the experience was nothing short of exemplary from the kindness of staff to the simple yet delicious breakfast on offer at the start. We were recommended a plethora of restaurants and visits on this small island, showing the staffs knowledge of the island. It was a pleasure staying here with our friends and hope to come back soon!

Alles Top gewesen. Waren zur Covid-Zeit vor Ort. Fühlten uns sehr Sicher. Nur 4 Personen in der Anlage. Kleines aber abwechslungsreiches Frühstück von Tag zu Tag. Tolles Zimmer. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Eine tolle Unterkunft, abseits vom Massentourismus. Ein portugisches Dorf mit Bars, Gaststtäten , Tankstelle , als alles was man braucht. Sehr nette Besitzer, sehr freundlich, sauber, gut ausgestattet. Frühstück ist etwas mager, man wird zwar satt aber wenig Auswahl.Kaffee aus der Thermoskanne, war nicht der Hitt. Sonst alles gut.Wir waren eine Woche da, es hat uns gut gefallen.Die Wohnug ist sehr gross und die Möbel sind neuwertg.

Sehr nette, hilfsbereite Gastgeber, denen das wohl ihrer Gäste am Herzen liegt. Das Studio war sehr grosszügig und hat uns super gefallen, der Ausblick von der eigenen Terrasse ist top, auch das Frühstück war gut und ausreichend. Zur Lage: Fussläufig erreichbar ist nicht viel, Auto ist (wie überall auf Madeira) ein Muss. Ein Restaurant ist direkt um die Ecke, der nächste Mini Supermarkt 20 Fussminuten entfernt.

Modernes Hotel mit großen Zimmern

Eine neu umgebaute Quinta, die sehr große Zimmer bietet. Die Gastgeber sind sehr bemüht und können einem viel über die Insel, Ausflugstipps und das Essen erzählen. Beim Frühstück gibt es viel selbstgemachtes, was uns sehr gefallen hat.
