This stunning villa is in an exclusive residential area of Vizcondado de Cabanyes, in Baix Empordà in Catalonia, with private pool and stupendous views over Les Gavarres National Park and the Mediterranean coast. The setting offers a peaceful location for a family holiday, but within 10 minutes’ drive of Blue skies beaches of the Costa Brava, sporting activities and regional facilities. With private pool, and an elevated south facing position, sunshine is guaranteed on the pool all day long. The pool is down a short number of stone steps through a landscaped mature garden. A bright and welcoming property, the interior is finished to a high standard equipped with all modern conveniences. One WOW factor of the villa is the panoramic views enjoyed from the two dining terraces and main living areas; the full night sky enriches the Mediterranean dining experience. The location together with easy access to local facilities and exquisite kitchen and local wines makes it a memorable holiday destination. We restrict rentals to families only.

Villa layout
The villa is designed as two levels with living areas upstairs, and the bedrooms downstairs, accessed by internal stone staircase or external steps.
Upstairs: the street-level entrance is gated with outside storage e.g. for bicycles and beach equipment. The front door leads into a spacious living room containing sofas and satellite TV, wood-burning fireplace, and breakfast/dining table. Through glass patio doors is the outside terrace equipped with large dining table comfortably seating 8 people, a gas barbecue, cushioned rattan chairs, and electric awning. It has wonderful views over Les Gavarres, and in the distance over the old fishing town of Palamos and beaches. It also overlooks the swimming pool. The living room leads to the kitchen containing all modern equipment including induction cooker, fridge freezer, dish washer, etc.
Downstairs: from the living room down the internal tiled stairs is the sleeping quarters comprising 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms / 2 toilets, and double access to an outside terrace.
Bedroom 1 comprises a king size bed comprising 2 singles beds (usually set up as singles). The room is enclosed by full length sliding safety glass doors on two sides, south facing, with views over the swimming pool and national park. The room has direct access to the outside terrace and swimming pool. The room has an on-suite toilet and wash basin. Chest of drawers and clothes hanging rack.
Bedroom 2 has a double bed with fitted wardrobe.
Bedroom 3 has a double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers, situated with outdoor access, and next to a shower room.
Bedroom 4 has a two-tiered bunk-bed large enough for adults, wardrobe and chest of drawers, with south facing window and security bars on the window.
Bathroom 1 has a sink, bath and shower, toilet, washing machine and cupboard space.
Bathroom 2 has a sink and electric shower and cupboard space.
Bathroom 3 is the on-suite toilet and small basin in bedroom 1.
All bedrooms have floor-standing fans.
For babies, a single collapsable travel cot and high chair are provided.
Outside: the second level terrace has a traditional barbecue with table and chairs ideal for family meals, panoramic views, and overlooking the pool and well-maintained mature garden of palms and succulent plants suited to the region. . The terrace is also accessed directly from the gated upper level via a few outside steps.
The swimming pool is down a short flight of stone steps , and surrounded by wooden decking with an outside shower, plenty of seating including reclining poolside sun loungers, a rattan table and chairs, and umbrella. South facing, the pool gets the sun from morning to evening. The swimming pool is a good size measuring 6.5 x 3.4 m, and a depth of 1.55 m all round with corner roman steps (not ladder) entry. It is serviced 2-3 times per week, and available usually from 1st May to 30th of October.
Local Facilities and activities
Beaches: The coastline in the immediate region varies from long sandy bays to small sheltered coves, with more rugged landscapes and marine caves to explore. The two closest beaches are in Sant Antoni de Calonge (4 km) and Platja D’Aro (6 km). Both resorts have long sandy beaches, promenade with outdoor restaurants and cafés, shops, water sports and children entertainment. Palamos (7 kms) has the city beach on one side and La Fosca beach on the other. The harbour lies in the middle near the old town, home to famous fish restaurants and traditional tapas bars. Within a 15 minute drive from the villa is the old town of Palafrugell, and access to the pretty secluded cove beaches of Tamariu, Llafranc & Callella.
Sports: Sant Antoni de Calonge, Platja D’Aro and Sant Feliu de Guixols (11km) have a variety of water sports available including jet skiing, kayaking, paddle surfing, skate sailing, wind surfing, subaqua, sailing and boat hire. At the entrance to Platja D’Aro (4 km) is a fantastic water park (Parque Aquatico). Nearby is a renowned golf club, Club Golf d’Aro Mas Nou (7 km), and riding stables (4km).
Shops. Major supermarkets are located in Sant Antoni de Calonge, Platja D’Aro and Palamos, where there are a wide range of high street shops, banks, bars, restaurants and bodegas.

Surrounds
Only a 5 minutes drive from the villa is the medieval town of Calonge, where a castle, restaurants and small shops can be found. Drive north through the Gavarres National Park of cork oaks (green all year-round), to La Bisbal d’Emporda (18 km). This old town is known for its ceramics and there is a lovely market on the Placa Major every Friday. Or drive west through the Gavarres National Park encountering medieval hamlets including La Romania de la Selva, and ancient Neolithic sites e.g. Cova de Daina (1700-2200 BC). The small city of Girona is situated to the north (40 mins) with many amenities, historical sites and museums to visit. For those who enjoy art, the 'Dali' museum at Figueres (60 mins) should not be missed. Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is in easy reach (80 mins) by car, or by train from Caldes de Malavella (25 mins).
Being near the French border, the Costa Brava is in easy reach for daily excursions to the Pyrenees, and the South of France.
Practicalities
For reasons of maintaining tranquillity, this holiday home will not be rented to groups of youngsters, and pets are not allowed. The property is a non-smoking accommodation.
Being located on the residential hillside just off the coast, a car is essential. Parking is on the road directly in front of the house (viewed from the kitchen window) with no problems of space even during the busiest times of year.
Low-cost airlines fly to Girona and Perpignan (France), and most companies fly to Barcelona, where all main car hire companies are available.
What’s included in the rental charge?
Provision of sheets, pillowcases, bed spreads, bath towels, and kitchen towels. Note that beach towels are not included, so please bring your own.
In order to fulfil our legal obligations, our holiday home is registered and inspected by the Touristic Office of Catalunya, Licence number HUT036868. There is a mandatory local Tourist tax of €0,90 /persons >15yrs /night, which is included in the price. See full details in the rental agreement.
