Charming location, peaceful setting. The tin roof was lovely, especially with the rainy drizzles that passed through during our stay. However, I'm assuming this property sat vacant for most of this previous year due to Helene. It feels very overdue for a deep clean. The surfaces and floors were clean, but inside/ under furniture looked like it hadn't been touched in a while. Mold in the laundry closet. What looked like mold on the bathroom ceiling and on the downstairs bedroom wall, at least water damage. There's a charming woodsy smell, and then there's just mold/ mildew smell. This cabin was mostly the latter.Hot water heater thermostat was set too high, causing the safety switch to trigger, meaning we had to babysit the reset switch if we wanted hot water. The hot tub worked well and was a nice guarantee of warm water. Any clothes we washed now smell of musty water, making me skeptical of any water filtration. The exterior is extremely overgrown, with plants growing out of the gutters - that's at least a year of plant matter buildup, plus the time for all the new plants to grow. The mountain foliage is encroaching around the property. It's a shame - the pictures and exterior terracing show that it was once cared for, but it hasn't been maintained in quite some time. There was nothing offensively wrong with our stay, but I don't see the value in the price I paid. I hope that this cabin gets the attention it deserves, because it's a lovely spot otherwise.
