Parking was limited especially when hosting events. Room was very noisy due to party nights until midnight. Probably had worst room as there was a gap in the windows which needed replacing and we were right above the smoking area where people congregated. We couldn't have dinner there as they weren't serving after 5pm due to party nights. Couldn't fault the staff or breakfast but unfortunately wouldn't stay again as worried about getting a parking space.

The room was lovely, staff was excellent, everything nice and clean. About the only negative I can say is the getting to the room can be a challenge. There are lots of stairs and narrow hallways. Some of the doors are old and short, I bumped my head a couple of times. But this is an old English building and was to be expected! Just know in advance if you are older and have heavy bags.

Parking was good, staff very pleasant. The room was tired but adequate. The room was near the boiler room and it sounded like helicopter was outside all night so we had a terrible sleep. Do not stay in number 29 or anywhere near this part of the hotel.

Another work trip away

Nice hotel, in the middle of Braintree. Check in was easy, room was a hike, especially after a knee replacement but it was neat and tidy albeit dated in furnishings and being on the top floor which was quite hot. Restaurant and bar were as expected, food was really tasty , staff attentive and polite. Shame the cost was not B&B for the price paid, but all round a nice, easy stay.

Very convenient for town centre, with free parking. It is an old building and the layout reflects this. Narrow staircases, no lift, I struggled with a case and bag. Room ok, shower over bath, bed comfortable enough. Overall, stay ok and reasonable value.
