Very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. The portable air conditioner was essential given it was well into the 30’s. Dinner was good pub fare, drinks very reasonable, and breakfast and coffee in the cafe was again good value. Recommend it for travelers who don’t mind a shared bathroom.

The property was extremely run down. Our room for 4 had just 1 fan. No cooler or airconditioner and it was really hot. The bedsheets did npt appear to be fresh or changed. The hotel overcharged us despite confirmation from wotif and the attitude of hotel staff for refund was absolutely appalling snd dismissive. I will not recommend booking this hotel at all. The place offered continental breakfast and it was absolutely unhygenic and non covid safe.

Hello Agasteena, I am sorry you were upset with your room facilities.  Your stay occurred during the large heatwave that covered all of Australia, uncharacteristically hot!  With the Cherry picking season in full swing, all other rooms were booked out.  For you as a couple, the last room available was the room with 4 singles, certainly not ideal for you.  our cleaning staff clean and vacuum rooms daily and actually sterilise all surfaces as part of our Covid Safe Business plan.     All linen is washed and a fresh set applied to each room reset. Your room opened out onto the wonderful veranda, most guests request this position especially for the view of the sunsets.   We are recovering from the large effect that Covid placed on our business, it is a shame that Wotif chose to ring the hotel during the busiest part of the day, the evening dining period.  Wotif was asked to please rind later as this time was not suitable, of course you would realise our reception also doubles as our bar facility.  Advice given to Wotif was that if there had been any error in booking charge, this would be attended to.  Indeed this has taken place and a receipt emailed to you.   The room was charged out as per bed in error and not as per Wotif's invoice, our new receptionist made this simple error. It is a shame you were not able to avail yourself of the amazing food that our two chefs prepare in our award winning restaurant.   Did you enjoy the wonderful friendly atmosphere of the hotel built in 1880?   Most guests describe their experience to us as the 'Quintessential Australian Hotel Experience!'  Of all the Irish visitors we have, they all exclaim that they feel like they are back home in Ireland! We hope you found plenty of tasty cherries and enjoyed all the additional fair available such as the jams, cherry pie's etc Michael Ward, owner

Hi Bill, Many thanks for your observations, an old hotel built in 1880 certainly does require ongoing development and maintenance. Perhaps you could see the new vanity's for the bathroom adjoining room 10? In the 8 years we have been here we have made significant investment in improving this wonderful ol girl. We are most grateful for you visiting us as this is what allows us to invest back into the improvements like room 10. Great old pub with fantastic staff & lovely food. Loved the big balcony & relaxed comfortable atmosphere. Nicely located in town as well. Not flashy rooms or bathrooms but extremely clean, quiet & comfortable. We stay 2 nights!

I did not like anything about the accommodation of this place. Not able to lock the toilet door or shower, Had no sleep due to noise. Everything about this place was hell

I spoke with the guest this morning on departure, they apologised for their review stating that they wrote this on the spur of the moment after the hotel had not met their initial intentions. They had not understood the method that a 'French Door' is closed and locked! After their stay, the guests were in total admiration for this wonderful old hotel and actually really enjoyed their time with us. They appreciated the town, its history and the Grande nature of this hotel. Our guests also complimented the meals our restaurant served. It would be wonderful indeed were they given the opportunity to re address their review! Michael Ward, owner.
