About this property

The Shipwreck House - Villa on Chaleur Bay Seaside

Summary:

Welcome to The Shipwreck House, your haven in the magnificent Bonaventure region, inspired by the tranquility of the Gaspé Coast. Our exclusive cottage is an invitation to return to your roots, an experience enveloped by the wilderness and authenticity of this picturesque region. Nestled on a peninsula between majestic Chaleur Bay and serene Cullen Brook, our cottage reveals a fascinating history. Find out more by clicking "View more"...

The Space:

The Shipwreck House offers you an experience where every element of our cottage tells a unique story.

From the moment you walk through the door, you're greeted by a warm ambiance and a breathtaking view of Chaleur Bay, a view that defies words and creates the perfect backdrop for your getaway.

"The original owner is passionate about Quebec's industrial history. Until recently, he was Director General of the Paspébiac National Historic Site. The architecture buff drew inspiration for the house from the region's built heritage. He was inspired by the collective warehouses once used by fishermen. They were built on the seafront in the 1930s. Their simplicity is unmistakable.

Inside the house, the streamlined look is inspired by the German Bauhaus philosophy. Born in Germany, the original owner knew the rules well. He used them to create a functional home with a minimalist, uncluttered design."

As a result, our home boasts a unique architecture with its many windows overlooking the sea and its cathedral ceiling, creating an open space that merges harmoniously with the surrounding nature. The three bedrooms and three bathrooms evoke modern comfort while honoring the rustic charm of La Gaspésie.

The fully equipped kitchen becomes the heart of your shared moments, allowing you to prepare delicious meals with local ingredients. The wood-burning stove adds a touch of authenticity, creating a warm atmosphere for relaxing after a day of exploring.

The experience doesn't stop inside. Discover the pleasure of spending memorable evenings around the outdoor fireplace or floating comfortably in the hot tub, listening to the gentle murmur of the sea and admiring the exceptional sunset, followed by a sky dotted with billions of stars. The Shipwreck House offers access to two private beaches, one saltwater and the other freshwater, inviting you to connect fully with the surrounding nature.

Our cottage is ideally situated for discovering local history, such as that of Pointe de l'Échouerie (Shipwreck Point), and exploring the charms of Bonaventure, while connecting with local culture.

Chemin de l'Échouerie leads to a point that locals refer to as "Pointe de l'Échouerie", the precise location of our cottage. The name evokes the local history of dangerous shoals for boats, as well as a haulout for the seals that sometimes bask there :0

We're more than just a place to stay, we're a destination where every moment becomes part of Your Story.

Our group of 8 enjoyed our stay out this rental. The accommodation were very clean and lots of space for us to gather. The wood stove in the living area was a wonderful addition for the fall, windy weather we experienced. Very cozy! The host was quick to answer any questions which made our stay seamless.
