First time stay

Bit apprehensive beforehand reading reviews as the hotel is undergoing refurb but honestly our room was excellent as it was one newly refurbished. To be fair it was a bit of a trek getting to it but it is an older building and not much they can do about that as it is also only a couple of floors so extends out the back considerably. carpets in corridors bit dirty but builders clearly in and out, and they seem to have painted bits that maybe should have waited until refurb finished - also whoever picked the colour scheme clearly likes green of all shades!!! Bar and bar staff great. Didn't try the food but will next time. But overall no problem recommending ...if you get a refurbed room. problem going back

It's actually a nice hotel, and you can clearly see they are working on it. The room was average. No luggage rack so case had to go on the bed (and there was room for one). There was no fan (it was incredibly warm). No hooks in the bathroom to hang wet towels from. The blind on the window barely covered the space, so it was very bright as soon as the sun came in. The tea / coffee tray was ok (not a great deal of milk, so enough for one cup), but coffee wasn't very nice anyway. There are no bottles of water left in the room. The single beds were ok. Very wobbly (like jelly when you sat down), and a bit too soft for my taste. What spoilt it for us is that out of 110 rooms, we were placed in room 147, which is the far side of the hotel. We were woken at 7 am with car/van doors banging and loud voices. By 7.30 am, the room above us was clearly being refitted, so the various sounds of hammers, spades scarping the floor, rubble falling .. as you can imagine, not happy. When we left, a room at the end of our corridor (4 rooms up) was clearly getting a refit too. When we asked if the hotel was busy, to place us in that room, with that work going on, the receptionist didn't commit to anything and said 'how awful'. I think staff should be aware of what's going on, and we should never have been placed in that room.

I would stay there again and recommend family and

We had a new renovated bedroom, which was nice and big and spacious. The bed could’ve been a bit bigger but overall comfortable night.

Not what it should have been

Very disappointing, some sort of generator and / or fan going all night - I checked at reception and was told it went off at 10pm - it was later than that and on again very early in the morning. There were some sort of fans going all night. Cobwebs in the room I could nearly swing from, not sure the bedding was clean, did not really have that “fresh” feel. Then to top it off no hot water for a shower

Positives: Lovely exterior, lobby, restaurant; as well as the first few corridors leading to rooms. Check-in and out was quick; plenty of space for parking. Food was great, the outside eating space was quiet & relaxed, and the restaurant staff very friendly. Shower was great, and the room was bright and well-lit. Room was generally clean. Negatives: Unfortunately, to the rear of the hotel - where I was staying - the decor changes from warm & positivity old-fashioned in-keeping with the hotel's front, to a markedly basic bedsit-type decor, freshly painted (smell still strong) a pear-green colour. This same decor and smell follows into the room. The heavy sliding-door leading to the bathroom would not close (seemingly dislodged from the bottom rail track). The doors within my surrounding earshot would slam-shut rather than ease to a close (the door to my room had no damper to prevent this). The bed's head-rest, being a panel which runs the length of the wall, had a thick layer of dust on its top. Building work commenced from around 0800 the following morning which seemed originate from the room directly upstairs; all culminating in sense that the area I situated within perhaps was not quite finished. I'm a relatively easy about hotel stays and accept conditions may not always be optimal - in this instance my employer booked the room within 48hrs of my stay. What is not expected is for the room in to differ so drastically to the room as advertised. Quite disappointing.

Totally huge disappointment for anniversary stay

The checkin went smoothly but to find out that our room were through a huge labyrinth as part of the refurbishment process.Walking up and down all the hotel.Last room at the end of a corridor that was exiting a yard for housekeeping.I understand that the price for the room was not above 100.00£ but still we’ve felt discriminated ,treated like the worst and poor couple ever in our life's using this hospitality services! Was for us a night gate away for our anniversary! At 6:30am opposite to our room and all over the corridor was banging noises, drills, shouting, laughing, even on our door was clear DND SIGN and also at the outside window people trimming the hedges, mowing the lawn, moving cages and furniture until 11am when we had to check out! It’s not first time when we’ve used this hotel and it’s sad to see that if we could find a good deal we were treated like the last people on this planet ! At the checkout I’ve mentioned and informed the staff about what happened and all what I’ve received was “ I am sorry , we will inform them!” Ok, that’s available for the next guest, but what about my stay and the fact that I’ve paid for a peaceful night and to enjoy our anniversary together once more with your hotel and this is what we’ve received? I’m so disappointed and speechless! Thank you for your time and Im expecting a full refund for our stay , not to mention for the parking charge also. Kind regards , Raluca Asghar
