I was on a business trip and ended up not staying at this hotel and driving home due to the complete state of disrepair and smell throughout the hotel. I regularly see hotels that are dated but this was a complete disgrace to the Mercure name. Rooms was absolutely disgusting with stains on the chairs and work tops, I didn’t even put my bag down before I decided I was not staying, reception was smelly and unclean. And the staff didn’t even inform visitors to register their car reg to avoid a fine.

The hotel feels rather tired and the rooms are not particularly clean or well stocked (tea/milk), breakfast buffet slow and kept falling behind customer service and there was no hot water in the room for a whole afternoon and evening - thankfully back on by the morning in time for shower before departure. Upside is a good location, quiet and rooms and bed spacious and comfy.

Beautiful building in shabby condition. No USB ports in the room. Ventilator and towel dryer in the bathroom did not work. Front desk staff was very welcoming. Breakfast was definitely not worth it at the price that they charged, but there is no place to walk to near the hotel.

Room seriously needs TLC. Furniture is very worn. Bed was obviously smaller than original as the side units at distance from bed. Toilet had not been cleaned as hairs all over it. Glasses in the bathroom dirty. Over powering smell of a room fragrance Funny smell in corridor of hotel. Leaking roof in corridor. Hotel just had a feel of not being cared for by the company. Will not use again

Room was a bit tired and in need of some TLC, bathroom floor needs a good scrub, shower was a trickle of water. Staff were lovely when you could find them. Breakfast was awful, limited choice, paper cups for tea and coffee, waited at least 30 mins for food to be restocked. Only melon available as fruit. Yogurt was sour, eggs were greasy. Bar only open to 11pm and limited stock, uncomfortable seating and cold. Again had to wait for staff to be available. Dogs roaming around every part of the hotel, even the dinning rooms.

Terrible customer service. I wrote a formal complaint 5 days ago to the hotel manager, still no reply! My room was freezing cold on arrival, heated towel rail in bathroom was freezing cold and shabby interior aroung the lift on the ground floor. Carpets look tired and old, doors and grab handles were dirty, walls need painting, called reception a dozen of times from my room, no answer! A terrible experience!!!

Very pleasant reception staff. Room was very clean and could benefit from an update but was ample for what I needed. Car park is huge which is a big help when you have a long wheelbase van. Overall an excellent stay for the price.
