A wonderful place to stay
Our group (5 active adults, all in our 60's) loved our stay at l'Atelier Maillol. When not exploring the region and its attractions, we spent much of our time sitting on the terrace/deck, eating delicious local food and drinking tasty wines. The house is a wonderful hybrid of traditional architecture on the exterior and contemporary open design inside, made more special by its history and heritage as Maillol's working studio. The house's set-up of bedrooms and bathrooms offered privacy to all, allowing both group and alone time. Common living areas were comfortable, and the kitchen had all required amenities/appliances. The property's location offered both privacy and access to town, a pleasant 15-minute walk. We took many hikes, including on the trails along the coast leading both north towards Collioure and south towards Spain. Though Collioure is pretty, vibrant, and interesting, we preferred the vibe in Banyuls -- less crowded and touristy, wider and more open. Favorite destinations included the Dali house in Cadaques; Collioure's art museum, shops, and narrow streets; the museum in Ceret; the Maillol museum up the road a couple of miles (a pleasant walk); and, of course, local restaurants and cafes. A favorite pastime was to sit at a cafe facing the beach in Banyuls with a cafe creme or glass of wine, watching people walk by. Our one regret is that we never made time to try the on-site boules court. Special thanks to owner Celine who was helpful throughout our stay.

Absolutely beautiful, quirky and ideally located property. Lived up to it's promise.
We rented both main house and the downstairs apartment for one week for 7 adults and a 21 month old infant. While the stairs were an obvious worry for the somewhat precocious infant, we had brought our own prison gate in the form of a portable stair barrier which coupled with parental and grand-parental close monitoring meant we could pretty much relax into our celebrations. The house is a lovely mix of comfort and quirkiness, well finished in a mix of old exposed and modern finishes, lovely use of reclaimed materials and modern furniture to give an overall relaxed accommodation, comfortable beds and loads of modern appliances, TV's, internet and everything required to have a night in if required - we were out most nights but had a great BBQ night in too. Banyuls beach and main town/village/cafe's/restaurants etc. are a mere 5 - 10 minute walk away and we varied from home based breakfasts in the house to "Petits Dejeuner Complets" in lovely sunlit cafes overlooking the beach - typically €6.50 for fresh orange juice, croissant, pain au berre, compote and delicious fresh coffee! From the touristy little vineyards train to a beautiful family lunch in Els Amics restaurant, we had a most wonderful time which was enhanced by the help and approachfulness of the owner - Celine. Our group was composed of myself and my wife on the occasion of her 60th birthday, our 2 daughters and their husbands, our son and grandson - an age range from 21 months to 62 years and we all thoroughly enjoyed both the house and the overall stunning location. Cheers - and it is a location we will go back to again - mind you, the amazing coast roads demand that I will bring my (motor) bike the next time!

Excellent holiday rental and great location
We've just got back from two glorious weeks in Banyuls Sur Mer staying in this excellent property. The property is even better than the impression provided by the pics - it is very private and very quiet but yet less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and town. The property is managed by a local agent whose office is opposite the beach so if you had any issues (we didn't) then they were totally accessible. Key collect and drop off were straightforward and the agent arranged a taxi to take to the airport. Banyuls is a lovely quaint little place which has good transport links so you can easily travel around on public transport. It has a great beach and great wine and as it's on the end of the GR10 you can easily have a little walk up into the hills. The accommodation has been finished to a really high standard and there are plenty of home from homes so you don't feel like you are staying in a rental. An excellent time had by all and I would not hesitate to recommend.
